Vanderbilt MSN 2017

For prospective applicants for the 2017 year in the Vanderbilt MSN program. Being as I am currently wait listed in the 2016 year due to a very late application, there is a high probability I would have to apply again come November 1st 2016 for the following year acceptance.

November 1st, 2016 is the priority application deadline for the 2017 year. All materials (GRE, official transcripts, application payment, letters of recommendation, statement of intent) must have been submitted by this date.

Letters of acceptance for August 2016 orientation and start were sent out the first week of February 2016. Wait listed recipients received their wait list offer in an around the first week of March 2016 with the caveat that seats may open well into late July.

The MSN Specialty I applied to was: 21 members have participated

Hi, I applied to the BSN/MSN program for the women's health specialty before the priority deadline and am still waiting to hear about an interview. Has anyone for this specific program heard yet?

I also also applied to the prespecialty women's health program and have not heard back. I submitted my application on October 21st. Hoping to hear something soon!

I had my cnm/fnp dual specialty interview this morning with sharon! I think it went really well, neither of us noticed we went 20 minutes over on time, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Only midwifery and psych/mental health specialities do interviews. The other specialities will likely not hear anything substantial until admissions decisions are released in Feb/March.

I'm a BSN applicant for the AGACNP program and I interview Tuesday!

Congrats! You have a second interview with Vanderbilt or for another school?

Thanks! I have an interview at Penn on Tuesday.

Just had my CNM/FNP interview. Went okay. Super short so not feeling really good.

Congrats to everyone receiving interviews!!

Does anyone know when pre-specialty applicants to the PMHNP program will be notified regarding interview decisions? To those of you who have been contacted did you receive your invitation via phone or email?

Thanks!

Hey everyone! I applied for the direct entry CNM program and got an email about scheduling an interview today. I'll be having it on the 19th!

I have HEARD (but cannot confirm) from those in the program already that the interview is basically a formality, and if you're interviewed your pretty much as good as in. I don't know if that's true.... I guess we'll see in the next couple months! But it seems a good guess, especially since the interview is only supposed to be 10-15 minutes. I got sent a few program documents to review and see if I have any questions about them.

Hi, I saw in more recent posts that you have an interview with Penn on Tuesday! Best of luck to you! I also registered for a phone interview with Penn when I received the email about being selected for an interview but haven't heard anything since. Did you receive further instruction via email in regard to the interview after you registered for it?

Just had my CNM pre-specialty interview! It would have been a fairly relaxed conversation, but I was super nervous and probably not communicating as well as I would have hoped. My interviewer asked me a lot of follow up questions to my initial answers which I think ended up being to my benefit. She said letters (at least for CNM) would be out mid-February. It's weird that different interviewers are telling people in the same specialty different timelines! I have another interview on Tuesday, so hopefully this was a good warm up for the next one. Good luck to everyone!

Had my CNM interview today as well! It was definitely very relaxed (despite my nervousness, which I think/hope was only apparent towards the beginning). I was probably a bit less clear than I could have been, and answered a question about scope of practice pretty strangely, but I'm trying not to dwell too much now! To kitpower, it would be WONDERFUL if those interviewed all got in, but I don't know if that's possible, since by my estimation there were at least 15 other interview slots in the email I got, and that was just for this one day (thus, I'm guessing there were at least that many listed for other days, too--that's assuming that all of those slots were intended to be filled). My interviewer told me that they only interview "qualified candidates," so I'm sure that everyone interviewed is being very seriously considered for admission, but I also am sure that many of those people will wind up being waitlisted (which, she also told me, means "we want you, we just don't have room for you"). It's such a nerve-wracking process, but it is certainly encouraging to get an interview. It really helps to commiserate/celebrate with everyone :) Best of luck to all!!
