vaccinations

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

I did ALL possible vaccines in one visit besides the ones they do a shot just to see if you are immune, so turned out I am not immune to 2 or 3 of them and will need to do em - TOMORROW. I just got a scary letter from admissions that my application is being reviews and and we will be notified 1st week of September, and if I am accepted I should have all vaccination done by then. How long does it take to get the results for those vaccines that they do a test first for immunity? I am doing them at UTA health center

Hep A and B are series shots, they take six months for the series to be completed. Titer test results come back in a few business days. The only issue I can see you running into is the titers for hep a or b coming back negative and you having to complete the full series over the next six months to be immune.

a few months ago it used to say that all those must be complete before starting the clinical, now it says at time of acceptance. When I went in the UTA Health Center in Feb to do ALL shots, she told me to do titers first, they cam negative but nobody advised me it takes six months for last shot to be completed. Only if this ignorant women had listened to me I d be done with all by now. Now I have to apply for Fall of 20. And I was pretty sure I m gonna get accepted fro Spring....oh well

How is it this “ignorant” woman’s fault that you didn't start your vaccinations in February when your titers came back negative? Had you done so you would be finishing them this month.

I did start them. I told her I want to do all, and she contradicted me that I should do first titers to save money...when it comes to me graduating, saving money is irrelevant

George, that sucks! Sorry you're dealing with this. This is all such a stressful process. I've heard of many applicants that lose their spots because they were of the impression that the immunizations just had to be completed before clinicals (I agree, I read that somewhere too). Have you applied to TWU? I know its not an accelerated program, but it is highly regarded and might have better luck with regards to the timing of the immunizations.

yeah it sucks big time, I busted my *** for good grades, have 3 considerations, I thought everything is going perfect, now wait another semester...uhh, it s killing me,most of all cuz i ll be 38 this year, I dont have time to procrastinate, but what can you do..... very disappointed

are you talking about Texas Womens or Texas Wesleyan?

Hey does anybody have a complete list or something saying what tests and what vaccinations we have to have exactly? Because I work for a hospital and I’ve gotten a bunch of blood work done before for hep a and b and I just wanna see if I can get it done before January when I apply. Thanks in advance if anyone can help!
