VA PACT RN

Hi everyone,

I am starting a new position as an RN at the VA in PACT (primary care) in September. I was wondering if there are any PACT RNs out there and if you could give me some insight on what to expect and what your day to day routine is like?

Any information is valuable. Thank you in advance!

Hi! I love it!! I’ve been there for about 8 months now and it’s going great. I can truly see myself staying in this position until I retire. We do a lot of phone triage and “walk-in” triage (like urgent care) and manage our panel within our PACT team. It’s a great job! Congrats ?

Still pleased???

I am!! I love it. Best nursing job I’ve ever had. I won’t be leaving. Schedule is great too!!

That’s great! I was wondering how long it took for them to contact you with an offer after interviewing? I applied to one and I’m so nervous waiting for a call.

PACT nurse here also. Been in primary care for too long. Glad you like it!

I’ve started my PACT RN position a few weeks ago. It’s a great team focussed clinic. I learned LPN processes first to learn some computer processes. I’m shadowing a PACT RN now. I haven’t done clinic nursing in a while but will get in a groove!

I interviewed in September. Unofficial offer at very end of October. Lots of homework to complete on my part. Official offer in January. Started in February.

In orientation we were told they’d like to make hiring process less tedious and long.

I am!! 2 years in & I won’t be leaving! I really enjoy it.

Great to hear, tell me what your day is like when you have a moment. I’m in Texas, where you at?

Just curious, how long did the process take from the time you were referred to the time you interviewed and then from the time of interview to starting as a PACT RN?? Thanks!

I have accepted a job starting in early February.  Does the pact RN do mostly phone calls> room patients? what exactly do they do.  I am coming from the hospital, fast paced covid floors.  will I find the work boring?
