Thanks Ms. Sealy . I read everything like a novel as well. That was the first I ever heard of this. I sent UT Houston an email as well. I want to know EVERYTHING so I dont assume things are fine if they in fact are not. Mrs. ****** said Enrollment svc would contact you if there was a problem with your application. I will be calling anyway just to triple check. Whats a good number for them?

also...if/when UTMB emails you....who does the email come from? I guess I am wondering what to look for in my inbox

emag,

i used 409-772-1215 when i called to verify that my application was complete a few weeks ago.

also, i got an email confirmation from:

student admissions"

thank you for applying to the university of texas medical branch at galveston. you will be receiving correspondence from enrollment services as well as the school you have applied to. if you have questions about the application process please contact enrollment services at: [email protected]. for future reference, pertinent information about your application is included below.

so i'm thinking the email will come from student admissions too, but we shall see.

Hey guys I am also a UTMB spring 2010 applicant. I feel like I've been checking my email everyday to see if I've gotten an invite for an interview. My mom is currently in their RN-BSN program and she has had nothing but wonderful things to say about UTMB. At her orientation she met all the professors and deans and told them about me applying and wanting to be a part of the Spring program. They told her a LOT of information that was beneficial to me. I don't have the best gpa...a 3.2 in science and a 3.35 pre reqs, but I was a college cheerleader for 2 years and had to attend every sporting event imaginable and had 5 am work outs and 4 hour practices everday! Hopefully they'll take that into consideration. They told my mom that the interview determines everything. They like to see people who aren't uncomfortable and who have a lot of personality. If you go in confident, you'll have a much better chance. They also said that if they ask questions about whether or not you like to work in groups, SAY THAT YOU DO...even if you don't. Include that you can work by yourself but prefer to interact with your peers. Just a few tips :) I've been checking this forum everday for the past month, and finally decided to join in. I wish everyone the best of luck!!! And if anyone is looking for a hopeful roomate let me know!! I've been doing a lot of research and have found some great apartments.

one more thing, I started taking a&p2 this past summer but dropped it because I didn't have as much time as I thought I would to study. Instead I am taking it right now in the Fall. When I applied however, I put that I was taking that in the summer and 4 other classes in the fall. Do you think that the school thinks I'm not taking Anatomy? I'm afraid they're going to see that and automatically drop me for not having all the pre reqs done or "in progress" (which I really do). Who would be the best person to call to clarify? (**** *******is out till Sept 18!!) AHHHH IM STRESSING!! Any help? :uhoh3:

Hey Katielou07!

Welcome :) Thank you for the info that you shared with the thread! Its very helpful! If I get accepted into UTMB than I will have to move from Dallas to Galveston....I would need a roommate too! As far as your classes go regarding the A&P I'm sure you will have nothing to worry about, as long as its completed before we enter nursing school. Since **** is out I would just ask anyone in enrollment services, I'm sure they will be able to help! What is your overall GPA by the way? My pre req and science are strong but my overall is lower! Hopefully I still get an interview!

well since I was a bio major before switching over to Nursing, all of my pre reqs were toward my Bio degree...so the 3.4 IS my overall pretty much. It might be a 3.35...but not much different. I'm so worried that since I didn't do so well my first year in college they're not going to consider me. I've tried really hard to redeem myself since then, but we'll see. My mom said that her application due date was in March and she didn't get called in for an interview until JUNE! and she was one of the first ones. I hope we don't have to wait that long. I'm going to be going crazy. And misspink86 if you are still looking for a roomate and if we both get in we should look into it together. I'd much rather room with another nursing student if I can. Cheaper rent and a study buddy!!

lol I know me too! I would so want to room with a nursing student going thru the same process! I dont think you have too much to worry about. Especially if you sold yourself in the personal statement!

I tried. I hope it's enough to at least give me an interview. I'm good at interacting with people!! What is the usual GPA for nursing students? I feel like I'm way behind so I gotta make up for it somewhere.

hi katielou, Oh man I sure hope it doesnt take that long to get an interview. I've been going crazy long enough already. I feel like dorthy on the wizard of oz clicking my heels together with my eyes clothes saying I wish I would just get accepted, oh I wish I would just get accepted. But so far it just havent worked.

I know how you feel, trust me. I check my email constantly...like every 30 minutes (even though I shouldn't be hearing anything for the next few weeks). I'm getting so depressed and I haven't even been denied!!! I just don't know what I'll do if I don't get in. Me and my boyfriend are wanting to get married ASAP!! One of us has to have a job, and he's applying for dental school this year so it definitely won't be him. I want to do the spring program SOOOO bad so I'll graduate in 2011 and start making money. Either way...I guess i've got to be patient and let God be in control.

:wlcmggrp: KatieLou ( I love that name!),

Congrats on the engagement! Thanks for sharing with us..your pointers will definately come in handy should we get interviews! To answer your question on GPA..I've been to info sessions one in 2008 and the other in 2009 and both said the average GPA of previous classes was the 3.0 to 3.1 range.

They ask questions about what classes you are enrolled in currently or planned, but they understand that schedules change and like misspink mentioned as long as you are done before January 2010 you are all good. (Hi misspink!) And being in great shape definately sweetens your chances GOOOO KATIELOU!!! :anpom:

That's so cool that your mom is there to coach you (US) thru this stuff. What kinda stuff does she say about the teachers, school, and the fast pace of the program? I know she is RN-BSN, but im still so courious about what's on the other side of that UTMB wall!

Oh, and I promise to resist all urges to refer to you as Katie Lou WHO (after today) :D
