UTMB Fall 2012

HI! I am applying for the traditional BSN program at UTMB that starts Fall 2012. I am taking my TEAS this friday and I wanted to know if anyone else here is applying for the same semester. Hopefully there are others so I don't have to be nervous alone!! :D

Hemphia, don't stress too bad (easier said than done - trust me, I know!) :) I just about drove myself mad trying to figure out the method to UTMB's madness when I applied last semester. And even after being accepted, I still have no idea how they decide the order of interviews.

As far as classes and on campus times, I can't speak for everyone else but this is my schedule:

Monday - Class

Tuesday - lab (every other week)

Wednesday - lab (every other week)

Thursday - Class

Friday - Free day :)

Saturday - Clinical 7a-5p

Lecture is with all 100+ people in your class. I have clinical every single saturday while others have it every other week either Tues/Wed from 7a-3p or Wed/Fri 7a-3p. So the weeks that I don't have lab, I have Tues/Wed off. But if I were to have clinical during the week, I would have the weekends off. It's kind of confusing but you get used to it. You'll get your lecture schedule first (probably at orientation) and then they'll build on it from there.

Congrats to all those who have gotten interviews! :) And those who haven't, don't give up hope! It's only the beginning :):)

Thank you Erika421 so helpful! :)

Thanks Erika 421! How long was it before you heard back after your interview?

My file is FINALLY showing complete!!! Yay! I was a Nursing CAS applicant and up until today my file was still incomplete. I have been in e-mail contact with one of the Admissions folks who assured me that everything was fine, they are muddling through all of the applications. I was beginning to get nervous and thought about e-mailing her again, but now I don't have to!!! Hopefully they are working on the second round of interviews, like many of you my scores are similar and there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to how they do things. It is frustrating, but out of our hands! I am so busy working on my last classes that I don't really have a lot of time to think about it, thank goodness! Good Luck to everyone! :)

So just to clarify, only 1 out of the 3 round of interviews have been announced? I'm praying that I get a chance to interview. I would be crushed if I didn't. Anybody know how many students they interview in each round?

To those of you who have already interviewed, was there only one interviewer? or are there a few?

Thanks for ya'lls support! It always helps when there's other people going through/have gone through the same thing. ^^

I so excited to share that I received early admission acceptance today! Hopefully others that have interviewed will start to receive emails soon too and the painful wait will be over!!

Congrats Julianne! That is exciting news! I hope that they send out more emails soon! This wait is absolutely killing me! But I am so happy for you!:)

wow, congrats!!! have you accepted? hopefully this means the rest of us will get e-mails soon! i'm so excited and nervous to hear back.

Congratulations Julianne! :)

Julianne, were you notified by email, mail, or through your mystar account?

Hey guys. I had my interview March 8th. It went very well. It was very casual, I was interviewed by the head of the admission committee which scared me at the beginning but then I realized that was actually good. However I was SHOCKED when she told me that I had a total of 9 withdrawals within the last 5 years.

#1. I havent been in college for 5 years (only 2.5)

#2. I NEVER dropped a single class.

I told her I have no clue where they got that from but it was without a doubt a huge mistake. She looked over my transcript and was like "Hm I don't see that you have dropped any classes so I dont know how this got in here".

The interview preceded with the questions (Why you want to be a nurse etc.)

At the end I asked her if she fixed that mistake about how many classes I dropped, she said yes she will fix it and now the status of my application has dramatically changed. I was very relieved. I was just shocked to see such a huge mistake on there and if it weren't for the interview they wouldn't have known that it was a mistake.

She told me the committee meets today March 9th and will look over the applications of those they have interviewed so far and decide who gets admitted, wait listed, or denied. So all those who have had interviews so far should receive an answer within the next month.

Good luck to everyone else. Just relax.

I hope I get it, I love the school and the island. What really draws me to this school is the fact that the program is only 1.5 years long. That is pretty awesome.

Hi Everyone - exciting to see that interviews and admissions have begun! I look forward to meeting you all in August.

My name is Sarah and I am one of the coordinators for the Pay it foward mentoring progam on campus. My job is to match up incoming students with senior students in order to facillitate a smoother transition into nursing school. It's a whole other beast inside those walls of Levin hall

Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Actually when you email D.T. most of them are forwarded to me to answer anyways :)

Once you have been accepted and have secured your spot, please PM me for some more information!!I've sent messages to a few on here who I saw had already accepted spots - Congrats!!

I know that right now it seems like the worst thing in the world, but really, this waiting is the easy part! The real fun starts after all of you awesome canidates are accepted!!
