UTHSCSA Spring '07

Published

Just wondering if anyone else is planning/hoping to attend UTHSCSA in the spring. I interviewed and tested last week which went well. I am hoping for a positive letter soon. It seems like everything is moving slowly. I expected that interviews and letters of acceptance would have been done much earlier. Maybe some of them were and I am clueless!

Congrats to all who have been accepted!

Hey giddygirl! Glad to hear your interview and testing went well. I think letters go out mid November so hang in there. For some reason it seems like there is like nobody from SA on this board. I have asked questions before and gotten 0 replies. Best of luck.

Thanks, Amy. I hate waiting. Is it me or does it seem very late to send letters? I have one in kindergarten and another who I will need to find childcare for if I am accepted. It won't leave me with much time especially considering the holidays are so hectic for everyone. Are you planning to return to school next semester?

I don't know if it's late compared to any other school but it sure seemed late when I was waiting as well. Yeah, I will be back in school for sure. I don't do well with not going to school or working and this semester I wasn't able to do either. I can't wait to get back...already bought my books infact. What a dork, I know. Best of luck to you whatevver happens. I know I used to babysit and the woman I worked for some how went through UTSA's career services and found people through them. I think you still get to interview them and ask for references and everything but it gives you the people who want the jobs. I'm not sure if that would be anything you're interested in but is an option that I have heard of. Best of luck.

hey everyone, i was just wondering for those who went thru the interview process for uthsc in sa...how was it? i finally got an interview letter last week and my interview is next Thurs ..i dont understand why it was so late for them to send it out. Im hoping to get into UTHSC SA BC I WENT THRU INTERVIEW AT UTHSC IN HOUSTON AND WASN'T ACCEPTED..HOPEFULLY I DO WELL AT UTHSC AND GET IN. JUST WONDERING IF SOMEONE CAN INFORM ME ON HOW THEIR INTERVIEW WAS AND WAS THE TEST LIKE THE NET TEST OR ALOT HARDER? THANKS AND GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE SPRING 2007 APPLICANTS

I got an interview also, but mines on the 15th. I want to know about the ati test cause I never heard of that.

Hi ballerbooboo-

My interview went fine...I just started my second semester! Try to be relaxed and LOOK PROFESSIONAL!! They bring you in for interviews and testing in groups, and there were people in jeans and flip-flops. My clinical faculty actually brought it up last week in conversation and said that your personal presentation is weighed very heavily. It can mean the difference between acceptance and rejection. The process at UTHSCSA seems very slow in my opinion...it was mid-November (if I remember correctly) when I got my acceptance letter. The test was online and basic in my opinion. Nothing to sweat over. Good luck!!

thanks giddygirl...

om currently in an adn program at lamar for my first semester... u think its a good idea to mention that in the interview that im already in nursing school or will that hurt my chance? I really want to do bsn and since i didnt get accepted at uthsc in houston after the interview i had to take the adn program at lamar (which is pretty good since they had 100% passing rate on NCLEX LAST SEMESTER FOR THEIR ADN PROGRAM) . i WANT TO DO WHATEVER IT POSSIBLE SO I DONT BLOW MY CHANCE AT A BSN PROGRAM ESP FOR UTHSC IN SA. Is the math part of the test allow us to use calculator? You remb what type of questions they ask you and was it ask in a group setting since you said they bring you in as a group? thanks for helping and some advices.

Hey ballerboo & moncj66! Just wanted to say best of luck to you both. I'm in my last semester at UTHSCSA. Like giddygirl said, looking professional is a huge part of it. Come prepared and be confident. By prepared I mean whatever questions they ask be prepared to have an answer. If they ask what wour weakness is, it's ok to say what your weakness is (since they asked) but turn it into a positive. You want to make yourself look great no matter what.

The semester I started we didn't have interviews but we were the guinea pigs so they did mock interviews on us. When I was asked what my weakess was my response was my height (I'm only 4"7').....I said that my height is a setback but I'm confident enough in myself to ask for help when I need and and to ask for a stool or something if I need that. The response I got back was something to the effect of "I like that you have confidence even in the face of a challenge."

As far as the ATI test it's a test we take at the end of each semester....kind of like a final. It's supposed to show you what NCLEX is like and is a good predictor of how you will do. Do you have to take one before, like at your interview? If that's the case then I'm not sure what it would consist of.

Giddygirl, how'd first semester go? I hope it went went well and you are enjoying 2nd so far. It's a lot of work but totally do-able. Best of luck to you.

Any questions feel free to PM me and if I don't know the answer I'll do my best to find out for you guys. Best of luck at your interviews.

You are not alone. I am from SA too.

I know, it's kind of weird. SA is a big city w/ plenty of hospitals and nurses....where are they??

does anyone know the applicant pool for the spring semester? im guessing it would be lower than the fall semester and how many people are usually accepted?
