Alas! Here I go again!;) This thread is dedicated to all hopefuls to either of the programs- AP or traditional. Let's partake in the sharing of ideas, suggestions, and/or insight in the "intricacies" of this nursing program. Former grads, new or current students are encouraged to chat. Knowledge is power, indeed! Continued blessings and success to all! Good Luck!:D

thanks Gracie I will check out Navarro

Libra1018 thanks for clarifying for the other points -- will also look at DCCCD for prereqs too online.

@ Nikkibro. If you want my opinion of the professors I took, let me know. I will be happy to let me you know.

by the way, I have also known people to work in child care dept of the gym while in nursing school who are now employed by our partner hospital as a nurse now. I never knew they were nurse, just knew they were no longer in child care -- later saw them in the ER or other depts.

So, to those who are just trying to get on, I guess be willing to take ANYTHING that can get you to the point that you are working for a partner. It's only temporary and once you are on, many will reimburse for your commitment to stay with them for a while.

As someone here said on this thread earlier, the whole point of the academic partnership is to help the partner hospitals keep a stead flow of well trained nurses in their hospitals -- so they grow them from the inside. They already know these employees and it is an opportunity for advancement for non-nursing staff members.

@gracie2011 -- I re-read your post that I have to get to Navarro to take the tests -- that is not good for me, but I will research and contact you if I choose Navarro for anything --THANKS!

Is anyone having trouble contacting their adviser? How long does it usually take them to respond? I had to ask my adviser a question a couple weeks ago, so I emailed her, but she never emailed me back. I was finally able to get a hold of a very helpful lady over the phone though.

I emailed my adviser yesterday so I could get clearance to register for Patho and Pharm, but she has not emailed me back or answered her phone. I was hoping I could get registered before Friday, because I am going out of town that day. I was hoping I could get this settled before the trip so I can actual enjoy it and not have to worry about registering. lol

@gracie2011 -- FOREVER!!!! to get in contact with advisors -- good luck!

@ nikkibro. Not all courses require you to go to campus to take tests. I would email the professors if you can and ask if you do have to take the classes on campus. My Art professor, M. Azarhooshang, did not require us to go on campus to take the test. We were allowed to take open book exams at home.

@ nikkibro. I will probably email my adviser everyday until she writes me back. lol. I hope I can get a hold of someone over the phone. I'm really freaking out, because classes start next Thursday and I will be out of town. I can't help that I have to register last minute, because my class ended Monday and grades were posted Tuesday.

@libra, I just looked into the Pharm and Patho classes at El Centro. WOW, what a cost difference!! Right now they have space available, so hopefully tomorrow I can get an advisor or admissions person on the phone, so I can email them my transcript to prove that I am TSI exempt. It won't let me register until that hold clears :( I would be VERY happy to get a $1500 refund from UTA :) :) :) :)

I did look up the professors though.......they got HORRIBLE reviews.....and I couldn't find out any info on what books they use. Do you know?

Yikes! I don't want to hear bad stories about the profs! I just want to revel in saving all that money. Let me be ignorant for a few days. :)

Not sure about books. Meant to loom into that, but got busy with other stuff. Will do it tomorrow for sure.

Hopefully they won't give you a problem about an emailed transcript. Maybe you can drive it over if you have time? I know, I know. The drive would suck. That's why I was happy it was online.

thanks i was checking it out last night, still trying to make time to research.
