USF Nursing requiremnets

Published

Hello,

I am a prospective student awaiting to see if I got into the Nursing program at USF. I currently have a 3.37 overall GPA, and 3.52 in my prerequisites, I just wanted to see if there was anyone who knew any statistics on the acceptance in the Nursing Program at USF and if i possibly have a good chance of getting in. Being a nurse has been a passion of mine for years now and Im just extremely nervous that I won't be accepted into anywhere. I also applied for HCC, Florida Southern, and South University.

Make sure you have a "bomb " essay, the essay is what truly determines your acceptance into the program. I'm a current USF nursing student myself. Also, don't put all of your eggs in one basket. Apply where you can ..good luck on your journey !!

Hi lenaanthony!

I am in the same boat as you, but for the graduate program! I hear it is pretty competitve so I agree with Cruz.Cookie - don't put all your eggs in one basket! I also applied (and was accepted) to the University of Tampa's program, so that is my back up if all else fails! Just the class times are not practical for someone who works full-time. Best of luck to you!

Hi, do you mind if I ask what your stats were?

Did you find out if you got in or not?

I was accepted into USF and South university's BSN program and like Cruz.Cookie said, the essay for USF goes a long way. I had spoke with other students who supposedly had higher overall and science GPA's than myself that were denied into the program. Therefore, if what they said way true about their GPA, then it was their essay that held them back from getting accepted.

However, during the nursing orientation the adviser stated for those with less competitive GPA's (i.e. overall's

How long is the USF BSN program? It looks like it is three years if you come in with all of the pre requisites done from a community college. Anybody know for sure?

The upper division goes continuous for 3 semesters, then off for 1 semester before you finish the last 2 semesters. So essentially it is only 5 semesters of lecture, lab, and clinical's but takes 6 semesters to finish.

Does that equate to 3 years or do they allow you to take summer semesters? Btw thanks for the info

2 years total.

So the final application date is June 1, anybody know how long it typically takes them to let us know if we are admitted?

Roughly two weeks after it closes you should get an email.
