Update

U.S.A. Oklahoma

Hi everyone I'm updating you on my situation...

I am a TCC Level 2 nursing student and about a month ago I posted on here saying that I was thinking about withdrawing because I wasn't sure if I could pass, but I ended up not withdrawing. Well I probably should've! Sadly my grade has slid below passing (74% passing is 76%) and there is only one test left- the comprehensive final and rumor has it, nobody passes it.

I have a feeling I'm not going to pass. I know everyone says if you think something is going to happen, you'll make it will happen... but really I truly feel in my heart that this isn't the right time for me. I know it's cliche, but I truly believe everything happens for a reason. I totally live by that. I put forth my best effort, I gave it my all and that's the best I can do.

Strangely, I am not upset. I'm not giving up on my dream of becoming a nurse, I'm just going to go over all of my options and find a new path to get there. I will probably check out the LPN program at Tulsa Tech. I've heard TCC nursing students get advanced standing. Will see!

RIght now I think I will start looking for a job as a PCT.

Thanks everyone for the support and encouragement!! And does anyone know of a hospital here in Tulsa looking for a full time PCT??

Hang tough. You have a lot of support from your Oklahoma friends. I believe you are absolutely correct... everything happens for a reason regardless of how it turns out. When you say "this is not for me" what do you mean? Hang in there and I will be thinking of you.

Hi OURN83,

I agree, hang in there. I'm curious, what class/classes are you having trouble with? You are level 2, does that mean you are in 2nd year? You may want to check out St.Francis hospital, they have openings for PCT's and look favorable to TCC students.

I guess you have already given up! Why? Who cares if nobody ever passes it. There is a first time for everything. The instructor told me to drop out of the program. There was NO Way that I would pass because I would have to make a 91 to pass the class. I made a 93. I did it and so can you! Don't throw in the towel yet!!!

I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling so much. Don't give up until it's all over. You've still got a few days before the final, right? Study your butt off. Even if you don't pass it, nobody can ever take away the knowledge that you learn. Don't even think anymore about those other options until you know the results of the class!!!! I wish I could find the poem my mom gave me once called "Don't Ever Give Up" but it's packed in a box somewhere in storage right now!

DON'T GIVE UP!!! It's not over yet. I can't tell you how many times I thought there was no hope for me, but I pulled through everytime. Think about all the time, effort, and money that has been put in to helping you get where you are now. Have faith and don't give up without a fight!

lana, i found one poem about dreams and not giving up. it follows:

[color=#990099]" i have a dream"

by donna webster

[color=#990099]when life gets tough and the road is long, and it seems there is no light. when the dreams you had somehow seem lost, don't ever give up the fight.

when you think your life doesn't mean a thing, you must realize we all have gifts. look inside yourself and you will find those things you might have missed.

[color=#990099]i have a dream and i believe. the angels said to look inside my heart and hear the song it sings. imagine all things are possible, if you only just believe.

[color=#990099]we all have the power to change our lives, we're all born with greatness inside. don't let your fears hold you back from dreams, and don't ever feel you have to hide.

[color=#990099]i have a dream and i believe. i'll hold my head up high and reach for the stars, i'll find my shining light. imagine all things are possible, if you only just believe.

[color=#990099]don't ever give up on dreams, don't ever forget who you really are. always know wherever you will go, you'll find that shining star.

[color=#990099]i have a dream and i believe. i have the strength inside, i won't run and hide. i found my shining star. i magine all things are possible, if you only just believe.

[color=#990099]i have a dream and i believe. i will survive and grow, this much i know. for god has told me so. imagine all things are possible, if you only just believe.

There's always this picture you've probably seen...

Don't Ever Give Up

By the way, I talked to one of my nurses at work this morning who graduated from TCC with his wife. She had failed a class there last year and he said she had to jump through lots of hoops to retake it but that the teachers seem to respect the students who stick it out and retake a class and don't drop out of the program. It shows how bad you want it! So if worse comes to worse, then consider that another option. But for now, just study until your eyes pop out! (Gosh I hate studying like that, but if it's what it takes, then it's necessary.) Good luck on that test!

I passed. . . :w00t:
