Unsure of my interview

Well I had an interview at one of our Hospitals on the 7th, I showed up 15+ minutes early, she wasn't there yet. When she did show up closer to the actual time of interview she gave me a little tour of the "hall" Interview consisted of her asking if I knew anything of the hospital so she gave me a quick rundown of the facility like when made what departments they have and what not. Finally get to the "interview room" and we sit down. She asked where I've worked as a CNA? How long as a CNA? Have I done EKG's, Blood Sugars, Baths, and V/S? Of which I answered Yes to all but the EKG's. She stated I could train for that. Asked if I would be willing to cross train into Unit Secretary? Of course I said yes. Told me the hours and lastly asked if I had any questions? I was thrown off by the non-complexity of the interview all I asked was if I was able to go full time in the future or pick up extra hours, she answered yes. Then stated " I have more interviews and will let you know by Mon. or Tue of my decisions." Now I am totally sure I bombed the interview and got the feeling she wasn't really interested or something by the lack of actual questions. This is just a vent of some sorts, basic confusion on if this is a typical interview for a hospital. Either way, now i have to sit here and wait until Mon. or Tue. for the verdict!

    When I went for an interview for a PCNA (patient care nursing assistant...basically a glorified nursing assistant/CNA...in addition to very basic nursing stuff, we could also D/C IV's, do very simple (non sterile) dressing changes, admit or D/C patients on tele and do blood sugars)...my interview was very unstructured just like yours. I was asked to tell them about myself, which I did, and we got on the topic of school...I was given a tour of the unit and told how scheduling was done...then they told me when they would let me know. It wasn't a real interview at all, really lol. I got the job. I think they were desperate for help, honestly.

    My interview for the tech position that I have was much more structured. I met with HR and got asked all of your basic interview questions, then HR sent the information to the floors that were hiring, and then we met with the unit managers and did an interview with them. My manager asked me some questions (especially the popular "how do you deal with conflict?" question) then told me based on the interview she could tell I have a great work ethic, etc...gave me a tour of the unit...told me she would let me know in a few days, but by then I knew I had the job :D

    I think it just depends on who does the interviewing! I will keep my fingers crossed for you and hope that you get the position! :)

    Thanks so much for your reply, glad to hear that you got the job :) I however never got a call back so I'm assuming I didn't get the job! But good to know that those types of interviews actually happen! lol

    It took a month to find out from HR that I got my hospital position. Call them and ask them what is the status of your application. They have no choice then to either tell you they've chosen someone else or that they are still in the interviewing process. Good luck.

    I recently had an interview in a hospital as well. I got the questions "if you waked past a patient's room and you noticed another NA in there that stole something, what would you do"

    I took a second and said that I would probably tell the RN in charge of what I saw? BUT what answer is correct??

    I went to an interview and basically the hiring manager did all the talking. I left thinking she knew nothing about me, but I was hired (I was called within the time frame stated). Did you call the hospital and check up to see what is going on? I try to take a thank you note for the interview by the end of the week of the interview, and then I call if I don't hear anything back. Pursue the job if you want it.

    Never thought to call and ask about my interview, she stated that she would call to let me know by last tues, I will call Tues after class to follow up on the interview! As of right now the job is still posted so i'll keep my fingers crossed.
