I'm pre-nursing international student in SF and I'm taking pre-requisites classes at college now.I have to decide which program I should in RN?or LPN? now.First,I took classes to get into the LVN program and I planned that I'm gonna transfer to University to get BSN degree after I get LVN license(LVN-BSN program),but somebody told me it's hard to get into that kind of program and expensive, but in my college(city college),it's hard to RN program now, because it's lottary system and so many pre-requsites here.To think about that,it seems the same to me...Now,I don know which way I should go...Now I7m worry about I can be a nurse...Anyone gives me advises??Does anyone havs done in that way?? If I choose to get into LVN program, anybody knows which university have LVN-BSN program and less expensive in or around SF? IF I go to university which doesn't have that kind of program,I should do all over as a fresh man?? Please give me infos if anybody has that. Thank you.

Have you thought about getting your ADN and then going after your BSN later? You will still have to take pre-reqs and some ADN programs are also on the lottery systerm (not all), but it might work better for you. Not all universities will bridge LVNs but they all accept ADNs who want to get their BSNs. That way you can also work as an RN while getting your BSN, rather than working as an LVN and switching to RN duties later.

Ditto, One way or another...I'd go straight for RN. Not all places...but sometimes faculties have trouble adjusting to a change from one level to another (LPN-RN). You're young, and even with a wait..you're prabably better off going for RN right away.

Thank you for your reply. Most of nursing students wait for a long time to get into RN program? How they got into the program?? I need to BSN degree since I'm studying here as an international student.Does anybodywho is international student here who became RN from LVN?

If you're planning on going from LVN to RN-BSN because you need to due to your status, why can't you go from ADN to BSN?

You could go LPN/LVN-RN-BSN, but I think it would take you longer. However, you could be working as a nurse at the same time. The programs available are endless. What state will you be studying in?

Ceecel, she's in CA....San Fran.
