UMB Spring 2012

Hello! I am in the process of applying for the spring 2012 semester at the Baltimore campus!! I didn't see any threads out there yet for people who are applying so I figured I'd start one :) Feel free to share gpa, TEAS scores, etc and any updates on admission!! GOOD luck to everyone!

Okay, this is going to sound like an uber shady question, but I have a legal Rx for adderall that I have been taking since high school and I wrote it down on my student health form....but technically the generic name for it is amphetamine. When they do drug tests they test you for amphetamine. I'm sure I'm not the first one to enter the program with a legal Rx for a particular chemical....would anyone know how I go about handling that? Do I bring my Rx with me when I get drug tested or do I just not take it for a few weeks?

You have a legitimate reason for taking adderall. While it will show up on your test, you will be asked to provide documentation to your clinical sites that you are taking a legal (for you) prescribed drug. These things can be worked out.

I FINALLY got my blood tigers back and it looks like I need to have every shot on the list- despite having chicken pox as a child and multiple MMR vaccines when I was in the Army. :(

My question is, the Hep B series takes 4-6 MONTHS to compoets. Is this going to be a problem for admissione? The student health form says it all needs to be complete for admissions. Anyone know anything about it?

If you had chickenpox, your word on the approximate date is sufficient. You only need the first two Hep B vaccinations before school starts. Just get the third when it is due and you will be fine.

Thanks, Grey Lady! Your help and input on this board are invaluable to many of us! You have just saved me a good chunk of time, in that I don't have to call and pester the Admissions Office or student health office about my vaccines. :)

Grey Lady-

Can you shed any light on the financial aid topic? I need to purchase books. In the past, I've always used my financial aid to do so- does the school offer book store advances? I'll also need to apply for federal loans, do I need to fill out a loan request form (I've signed the MPN for this year already) through the school?

I wish I could help but financial aid is a total mystery for me. There is a UMB Financial Aid office (there is not a separate one for the School of Nursing) and there is also financial aid assistance for Shady Grove students in the Student Services office. Hope they can help you.

I will be starting the MSN CNL program in Jan. too & will be looking for a roommate. I am moving from CA, but I have lived in Baltimore before for over 2 years and I think I would like to live in Federal Hill! Let me know if anyone is interested.

Finally found a CNL candidate. How is your prep coming? I got my letter late, thus am just starting out with taking care of requirements.

RN to BSN decisions are posted on SURFS.

Hi all! Is anyone at Baltimore planning on leaving at the on campus apartments offered? I am living in Pascault Row and wondered if anyone knew anything about it or was living there too?

@February11 - So are we going to be classmates? :)

I tried to sign up for an ID but it doesn't let me do that quite yet. I'm just so relieved they finally posted decisions!

@buca04 Thanks for the tip! I was able to see a lot of the classes listed! Many still say "TBA" so it's hard to tell what's what, but it was very helpful. :)

Congrats all!

I have pharmacology book (Lehne) for sale. Like new condition. $65.

Call or text if interested 301-335-3734.

Ahh so before we know it orientation is going to be here! I would really love to know some people prior to orientation. Is anyone interested in meeting up at orientation or prior just to maybe get to know a group of fellow BSN Spring 2012 classmates?

I also wanted to see what everyone has together already. I have all my books and uniforms...thanks so much to a wonderful guy on here who sold EVERYTHING to me since he decided to drop out of the program. Do we have to have white scrub pants or can we have khaki ones? I feel like you cans ee right through the white ones and I really don't want to wear shorts underneath ha. I have my stethoscope. Check out medisave.net if you haven't pruchased one yet...deals all the time and free engraving! I still need to get a parking pass and my ID made. I have to start all the pre-class reading, etc. Anyone started all of that?

Anything else we need to do that I haven't thought of? I sent in all my documentation and signed up for classes. Would be interested to see what everyone's schedule is. I have the following classes:

NURS 304.01

NURS 304.02 - Group 1 (NURS 304/333 Lab & Module)

NURS 333.01

NURS 315.01

NURS 320.04
