Hi, this is my first post. I moved from the UK to the U.S.over 10 years ago and I am an RN in the midwest. I want to acquire my BSN on line. The university is requesting my transcripts from the UK. As you know, transcripts are significantly different from the UK. Also, I not even sure which organization to contact in the UK.
Can anyone help me out? I am sorry if there has been a thread on this already. I've never been on a forum before and I am still on the steep part of the learning curve.

You will need to contact the school that you went to, and if they are no longer functioning, then contact the NMC to get the transcripts.
But, you may also contact the BON for the state where you were licensed in the US back when you came over here. They would have been required to evaluate your transcripts before you even got the license. So they may have a copy of them available for you on microfilm as well.
Try that and then let me know if either of these two steps do not work for you and we can proceed with the next if you have to.

i too am doing my bsn, but thru a ground course, although it is mostly online with only one class a week. i too had problems getting my transcripts, even since they had been evaluated when we came here, they had been moved yet again, this is the third time since i started to ask for them. if the school doesnt exist where yo trained then start with the hospital that you trained in, the library was the place with the most information for me, they knew where all the transcripts had been sent from the school of nursing. cgfns evaluated them for me to come here but they werent good enough for the university to accept and i had to go back to the uk.

Nursing schools that have been closed in the Uk have had training records moved to the universities that took over the training. For exampe my nursing school closed but all our records were placed into the care of South Bank University.
You could try looking to see which university is closest to your old school, or has an obvious affiliation with the hospital you trained at. Contact their healthcare department and ask if they took over the records for that school. you shouldn't have to venture too far afield before you get the answer.

Some universities will only keep the transcripts for a certain length of time and then supposedly send it to NMC but I am sure they could just put them onto some sort of DVD/CD and access them as required. Many have had problems with NMC and getting some sort of copy of transcripts as a lot depends on who they talk to there
