UIC Graduate Entry Program

Hi folks,

Thinking about applying to UIC's GEP program. Anybody here applied and was accepted? What were your stats?

My stats: 3.2 Overall GPA/3.5 Sci BA in Sociology. Office Manager in home health care, tech in a medical equipment co, medical assistant (no cert) in dr's office and later office manager there. Volunteering in Nursing Home around 120 hours...

From what I can tell on their website, after completing the NCLEX, you immediately start the master portion of the program. Is this correct?

For everyone that has been checking the application the past couple of days is the transcript box the only one that has a green checkmark by it? The item status for my nursing departmental materials and application fee both say received, but no green check mark. I figured it was fine (especially because why would they "verify" the credit card payment when it has been received), but I wanted to check.[/quote']

Mine looks the same... I was also wondering if that was unusual. Maybe once they send out interview notifications, it will look different? Ahhh I can't wait to find out!!

Does anyone have a list of questions they ask when they interview?

Mine looks the same-where transcripts only have green checkmarks. I really hope we all hear by Friday! I think there were a list of interview questions somewhere on here-if I find them I'll post. My friends recommendation for the interview was to relax & just show your passion for nursing. Her cohort had a short one-on-one interview & then a group interview. She said it was very laid back. She didn't remember all the questions-but said it was standard stuff like Why do you want to go into nursing/specialty; what experiences do you have in medical field; what was the hardest challenge you faced in your life etc. One question that stood out in her memory was are you prepared to handle the uncomfortable situations one experiences as nurse-patients often in most vulnerable point of their lives-how are prepared you to handle this kind of situation. My friend said she "prepared for the interview" but ended up really just talking from the heart since it wasn't as stressful as she thought it would be. Basically, we need to explain why we want to go into a certain specialty; what leadership skills we have, and why we are passionate about certain topic. I still plan on preparing-just to ease my own nervesloll

Rain -- what's your accent? I tend to ramble so I need to practice making short and concise statements.

thanks for sharing @sittenfeld! that is a great list of potential ?s . I also have to work on not rambling.

Fingers crossed as well for interview notifications to go out tomorrow! Hope we all get good news! I want to go into the weekend knowing.

I'm very happy that April is here and we are on the verge of getting notified! I have been waiting for this month for 2 years... Ever since I knew I wanted to go into nursing and had my eyes hooked on UIC. Good luck everyone! I know we will hear nothing but good news! :)

Should we expect an email or phone notification?
