I live in Southern Ca and will be starting nursing school for my ADN this Spring 2011. After two years, I planned to apply at UCLA Nursing school to ge my BSN. To qualify for the program I need at least 1yr of RN work experience. For those who got accepted to the program, what did you do to stand out of the crowd that got you accepted? My plans is to get my BSN at UCLA and then apply for the UCLA Medical Center new grad program.
SInce I will be starting my nursing journey soon, I like to do everything right so I can fullfill my dream.
Thanks everyone!:)

If you've already gotten a year's RN experience before going for the BSN, I don't think you can be considered for a new grad program after the bachelor's. Why not just go for the BSN right away?
My Gpa isn't that great, just 2.7. I waited about two yrs to get accepted for the adn program and I finally got accepted for the spring 2011. Should I apply for a job at UCLA after I get my license or should I get my BSN? If I go the UCLA BSN route than how do I apply for a job at UCLA since I am not a new grad anymore?
HOw do I make myself stand out if I choose to go for the UCLA Rn-BSN route? I really want to get my BSN at this school.

Unless the economy will change, it will be hard for you to find a job as an ADN. It may be wiser to go straight to BSN.
Check out UCLA transfer prerequisites carefully. They ask for lot of science classes. You may spend many years completing those.

I'm not sure if you know... but the RN to BSN program has been discontinued due to lack of fund. So I don't know if they would get the program back when you finish ur ADN. good luck! I hope my info has helped
