Whats PRN? HOw often a week will I have to work for nusing assistant if I'm still in school? If I want to volunteer at a hospital once a week, do I accept any open position? How does volunteer work if I am a nursing student. I don't want to volunteer just to volunteer, but to be able to have good critical care experience. Will I get this experience through volunteer work as a student?

I will be starting nursing program for my adn this spring 2011. My dream is to get accepted for the UCLA Medical Center New Grad program after I graduate. How do I get work experience while I am in school? I want to get as much experience as I can, especially critical care experience, so I can stand out once I apply for the New grad program. Anyone has any adivce for me?

My Gpa isn't that great, just 2.7. I waited about two yrs to get accepted for the adn program and I finally got accepted for the spring 2011. Should I apply for a job at UCLA after I get my license or should I get my BSN? If I go the UCLA BSN route than how do I apply for a job at UCLA since I am not a new grad anymore? HOw do I make myself stand out if I choose to go for the UCLA Rn-BSN route? I really want to get my BSN at this school.

I live in Southern Ca and will be starting nursing school for my ADN this Spring 2011. After two years, I planned to apply at UCLA Nursing school to ge my BSN. To qualify for the program I need at least 1yr of RN work experience. For those who got accepted to the program, what did you do to stand out of the crowd that got you accepted? My plans is to get my BSN at UCLA and then apply for the UCLA Medical Center new grad program. Let me see if I get this right, 41 students who got accepted have to defer or not respond for me to get in? Does anyone know the average number of alternate who get accepted for each semester? Thanks everyone!

I just got my letter and I am an alternate for the spring 2011. I will be attending the orientation in mid janurary. Do I have a good chance of getting in for the spring 2011? My previous number was 101.

Thanks for the advice dd. Will definitely save up some money. Do you think I should get the Pharmacology and the Nursing Process - Text and Study Guide Package and Calculate with Confidence textbook to get a jump start. I know pharmacology is the first class to take so is this a good idea?

My number is 101. I apply back in spring 2009. I am not sure if this latest drawing is for the spring 2011.

They have not select students for spring 2011? If this is the case then 60 or so more students will be selected for the spring 2011 and I will for sure be accepted for the fall 2011. Is this right?

I also applied on march 2009 and just got my latest position. I am number 101. I thought the latest lottery drawing was for the fall 2010 term. The latest drawing was for the spring 2011? I am confuse. I thought there will be another drawing for the spring 2011 and I will surely get in for the fall 2011. Are you sure dd72 that the spring 2011 if filled? That means I won't get in until spring 2012.
