UCF 2017 Accelerated Nursing Program

Hello,

My name is Yuan and I am applying for UCF 2017 Accelerated Nursing Program. I noticed that there was a thread every year on this forum for applicants to share their status and progress after application. So this is what this thread is for.

As for me, I have

Teas: 85.3% ( I might take it again at the beginning of January)

Overall GPA :3.56 ( it's not great:( )

Prerequisite GPA: 4.0

Good luck!

UCF vs UF: So I was accepted to UF Gainesville campus and I am super happy, however UF is probably my second choice, as I live in Orlando and I am still waiting on decision from UCF. from my understanding the decisions wont be in until about mid March. We have to make a decision by March 10th with UF, but the deposit is not due until 24th. Is anyone else torn?

If i respond to UF but wait on my deposit until I hopefully hear from UCF by 24th. What are the implications on saying we will attend and we actually don't? Also, isn't UF harder to get into? Isn't it considered the best university in Florida? So with that logic, if I got into UF, i should definitely get into UCF. I am really not sure what to do though. Advice anyone? Please.

I will be at the open house today I'm curious about it too did everyone get invited I'm assuming everyone that was eligible did

Well, it seems like UF relies on your essay as well as LORs in addition to stats in making acceptances. But if your stats are good, you should get into UCF - as it seems that is the primary metric they use. We might get decisions before March 10; but if you don't just accept your UF acceptance and then you will know for certain whether to make a deposit before the 24th. Go where you like best (school, location, etc) - it's a licensure based profession so I don't think where you attend is very important IMHO.

On the other hand, has anyone applied for the scholarship and heard anything back? The wait is kinda killing me.

I haven't heard anything yet the way they made it seem at the open house was that they are contacting a few people at a time

Interesting statistics they brought up at the open house today. 240 applied to the ABSN this year, last year was 220. Of the 240, 190-200 were invited to the open house. They accept about 66, then another 60 are wait listed. I did the math when I was there and there were about 120 students at the open house today.

I was counting how many people were there today as well lol definitely more people were eligible than I had first thought

Thank you all for that info. Any other good info I missed from the Open house? Much appreciated!

Mandatory nursing orientation is May 11th, program starts May 15th.

Anybody else keep checking their status even though they KNOW it won't be changing for several weeks? haha!

Will they be notifying us through email or our UCF portal?
