TWU Spring 2010

Is anyone out there applying to TWU for the Spring of 2010? Just thought that I would start a group for all of us hopefuls so we could share information and have a way to communicate with each other.

Have you taken your HESI A2 yet? Have you taken all of your pre-reqs? If not, what do you have left to take?

I have taken all of my pre-reqs, and I just took my HESI yesterday. I didn't think it was bad at all, but I prepared for it for about 3 weeks.

If you haven't noticed, TWU has made some slight changes that I think some people will not be happy with. They are taking into consideration the first grade made at pre-req attempts for several of the classes like A&P, micro, and another class. What do you think of this? I wonder how it will change the applicants chances of getting in?

Good luck and I look forward to meeting you!

Theres an open house tommorow at the Houston campus!??! I thought the next one was on November 5th. That is the one I am probably going to.

yes there's an open house tomorrow. november 5th is a prospective nursing student seminar. i'm sure either would be beneficial. the only reason i'm going is so i can get a feel for the facility and the faculty

I see it too. It has the same dates as the dates that I applied to the school of nursing and turned my application in. I hope it's a good sign, and I hope that we all have one.

NP Goopsy!

Yeah I think I'm going to check out the open house on Nov 5th since we are still pretty much prospective students, to get a feel for the school and faculty as well! But by then we should have already gotten or just be getting our decision letters.Wow! It's so close guys!

OK, now I'm getting anxious. I could use something to celebrate right now.

I relly hope they mail out those letters this week.Anyone wanna volunteer and call twu tomorrow find out the update? I wanna call but I called so much last week I'm sure they have memorized my voice by now lol

I will. :heartbeat

hey everyone! so i went to the twu open house in houston yesterday and talked to the assistant dean of the nursing school, she said she saw the applications or letters on someone's desk the other day and we should find out by the end of this month. she also said something very interesting about the HESI, and now i'm totally confused! i wanted to know how important the HESI score was when it came to the admissions decision so i asked her that, her response was something like as long as you have the minimum of 75 you're fine. so then i was like well you know i'm asking because i have around a 3.6 and i've heard thats considered low, but i got a score of 94 on my HESI, so will that help me at all. her response was no, and she said that the HESI can't help you. has anybody else heard anything like this?? it doesn't really seem to make any sense to me. there's no way they can judge you JUST on GPA, right?

I heard this somewhere else as well. I hope this is not the case, because I also have a gpa on the low side, and a high HESI score. The only thing I can think of is that this is the first semester they have used the HESI, so they don't plan to factor in the scores to a significant degree. This is NOT what I was told by my advisor, though. He acted like the HESI definitely counted for something, but he would not say how much. It could just be that passing is passing. Maybe they just use the HESI as a tiebreaker. Who knows. I am tired of wondering. I hope we get emails or letters by the end of this week. I am ready for this whole process to be over with already.

hey guys...on the new applicant tab in our portal when you see your accepted into the school is the location supposed to say denton if i applied to houston?

hey! yes, I heard something similar. It was from the interim associate Dean. She told me that as long as I had above a 75 average on the HESI per the TWU policy, that it didn't matter what grade I had! That really suprised me. The reason she told me that is because I was discussing with her the issues I had with the HESI exam not giving me the critical thinking and all that fuss of the HESI messing up everyone's grades. I blew it off thinking she was just the interim assoc. Dean and didn't know much. But I'm worried now that some else has heard this!! The rumor was supposed to be that the HESI counts more than the NET did, which was 20%, but it seems now to not even be counted at all. I really thought I had a fair chance, but now I'm not so sure if they are just going to take the GPA. Had I known this, I would have retaken gov. 1, which I was on the fence about retaking, since I made a B in it.

I have a feeling that Wednesday is the day!!! I'm ready. I'm not scared or nervous anymore, but I just want to find out. Ha, I say that now, but I'll probably freak out when I actually see that letter in the mail. I'm thinking acceptance emails go out Tuesday, and letters are received on Wednesday.

Ok, you guys! This is it for us, I guess. I will pray for all of us. Also, if anyone gets an email/letter, please post so we know to check the mail!
