TWU Spring 2010

Is anyone out there applying to TWU for the Spring of 2010? Just thought that I would start a group for all of us hopefuls so we could share information and have a way to communicate with each other.

Have you taken your HESI A2 yet? Have you taken all of your pre-reqs? If not, what do you have left to take?

I have taken all of my pre-reqs, and I just took my HESI yesterday. I didn't think it was bad at all, but I prepared for it for about 3 weeks.

If you haven't noticed, TWU has made some slight changes that I think some people will not be happy with. They are taking into consideration the first grade made at pre-req attempts for several of the classes like A&P, micro, and another class. What do you think of this? I wonder how it will change the applicants chances of getting in?

Good luck and I look forward to meeting you!

sorry to triple post...i'm not trying to spam, but does anyone know of anyway to check if twu has received all information necessary from you or if something is lacking? for ut houston you can check on utlink, but i haven't found anything like that on portal...does anyone know? do i just have to call in?

i would call if i were you. to make sure all of your transcripts have been received you can look under MY INFO on pioneer portal and then transcripts will be on your bottom right after you log in again. a few of my classes weren't on there so i called yesterday and they updated it while i was still on the phone. so i would definitely suggest calling if you want to make sure, they don't seem very speedy when it comes to email responses.

i'm currently a student at a&m as well, good luck to you! too bad the a&m hsc nursing program only admits in the fall

If it's not too inconvenient, I would suggest trying to make an appt. with an advisor at the Denton campus. They are very nice, and both times I have gone I have gotten the feeling that they appreciate prospective students making the effort to come in. That way you KNOW for sure that everything is right. Minimally, I would call. Pioneer portal does not seem to be a great indicator of what they have/do not have. Good luck!

Actually A&M is admitting for spring 2010 but that is for the accelerated program. if you're interested, they will be opening their application sept 1 and everything is due by oct 15. Their generic program starts in the summer (july), not in the fall. They do not have any programs that start in the fall.

you are correct, i don't know why i said fall when i know they begin in the summer. thanks for the info about the accelerated program, but i'm class of 2011, meaning i won't be eligible for any accelerated program by the spring.

did anyone take the HESI for TWU and UTA?

i'm not sure why you wouldn't have critical thinking if you registered for the test the way they told you to....i had critical thinking on my test today. did yours say Texas Woman's University on the top the whole time you were taking it?

Goopsy, That's weird when I took the HESI A2 this summer for TWU it had critical reading shown for me. =/

I took all of the sections that were listed on there. But I do see what you are saying because on the TWU nursing website it never mentioned critical reading, so I would ask them about that and see what they say.

thanks! I urge anyone who took the HESI A2 and did not have the critical thinking portion on their test to contact his/her respective advisor at the Denton campus to make sure your test is eligible for consideration. My advisor told me today that the Dean has thrown out applications already for the Spring 2010 for those who do not have the critical thinking. This is a serious issue. I think Kimmy mentioned she did not have a critical thinking portion.

Oh man, that is serious then. Good luck with that! Do you think the dean will also throw out applications for

students who barely reached a 75 score on the HESI? For instance, let's say you have a 73 and you still applied?

But then the GPA is really good.

yah absolutely-75 is what they want. these people are not playing games. They told me last semester that they throw out applications that do not reach the requirements just to narrow down the applicant pool.

I agree with goopsy, but I'm confused when you say "barely reached a 75, let's say you have a 73." A 73 isn't a 75, but as long as you have a 75 I wouldn't think they would throw your application out without looking at the other components. If you don't, they probably will. The admissions committee has to have a way to weed out some applicants, and I'm sure they will use the minimum HESI score requirement to do so, especially since it is stated on the website:

Minimum Test Score

A minimum test composite test score of 75 (not a 75 for each specific part) is required for eligibility to the College of Nursing.
