TWU Spring 2011 Program

I think it is time we get our own thread for those of us who have been accepted to TWU's Houston program :yeah:

Does anybody need some carpool buddies in the Katy Area to TWU downtown?

Hi everyone! I just joined all nurses. I got my acceptance e-mail last week and I cried my eyes out! I have been trying so hard for four years and can't believe its actually happening now. I am excited to start at TWU Houston. I live in Cypress so I will have a loooong drive! Congratulations to all of you!!!

Congrats therealkara!! Sounds like you really deserve this! I am thrilled for you!! I didn't cry, but I definitely did some sort of jumping, galloping, prancy dance!! :)

Hi fellow acceptees!! TWU is great, I just know it. I can feel it. I was on the other thread just as a visitor. I just recently even heard about these forums at one of my interviews. You know, they sit all the applicants who are there for an interview at UTMB in a room together. We had no choice but to swap stories and fears and hopes. lol Anyway, I was accepted to TWU last week. It was my first choice, so even though I'm waiting for UTMb and UTHSC I accepted TWU! Greetings to everyone here. I look forward to chatting it up with you all!

Oh, quick question. I'm new to Texas (by 5 years :) ) and this whole "w" thing. So, the story is I am enrolled in Phil to complete my UTHSC reqrmnts, but now that I'm going to TWU, do you guys think it would look bad on my final transcript if I drop it??

Well, a "w" is better than an F, if you are ever worried about failing. You can only get a W if you drop the course before the school's drop deadline...otherwise you get the grade you get. You are only allowed 6 Ws, after that you have to complete all courses.

I think that the Phil is required unless you are core complete at another Texas school. I'm having to take it now too. Have you already taken PHIL 1301 at another school?

Phil is not specifically required at TWU...you may take Philosophy or Literature (3hrs credit).

So I guess you have the Literature class already taken care of? If TWU has given you credit for the classes your've transferred in and the PHIL/LIT class is taken care of, I think you should drop the Phil. :)

Thank you! I just really needed some other insight other than my own. I feel guilty and kinda incomplete by dropping a course. It's outside of my personality, but I was like "But, they already accepted me...and they don't even require Phil.!" So...thanks :D

I have all the core reqs listed on their site for nursing: A&P 8hrs, Micro 4 hrs, Chem 4hrs, Gov't 6hrs, Lifespan 3hrs, Hx 6hrs, Nutrition 3hrs, Stats 3hrs. I have a BA in Spanish from an out of state school. So to my understanding, I'm done with all pre-reqs. The only reason I was taking Phil this semester was so I'd have it done by and if I started at UT Spring 2011. ?? Am I good? I'm nervous now. And thanks for your reply! :)

So just curious, which Lit class did you take?

Well I also had a degree from out of state but had to take a bunch of my core classes over because they didn't transfer in. They said that I wasn't core compete because my previous school was not in Texas. They emailed me all this about a month ago. I had to quickly sign up for the Liberal Math and take Phil 1301. I'm sure that if you weren't core complete they would have said something by now. I would call and double check with the Houston office. I would rather here it from them.
