TWU Fast Track Program

Anyone know anything about the TWU 15 month program for people with bachelors degrees to get a BSN? I'm in the midst of getting an appointment with an advisor, but I wondered if any of you have any idea of their acceptance rate. My grades are pretty good. All A's except for my C in Chemistry. (HATE Chemistry!) Any insight would be helpful!

no, i'm still taking them, but through DCCCD right now. i'm still working a FT desk job, so i needed to take classes online to ge the leveling done. this'll be my third degree (assuming i get in, of course) but i've never been this stressed out about school before.

yeah, i guess it really is all about the applicant pool. maybe i'll get lucky. assuming my good-grade streak continues, i'll have over a 3.9 for the pre-reqs they look at, so i'm hoping that'll be enough; it's really all i can do, i guess.

did you find it difficult to get in the regular program? how do you like it there?

I've applied to the TWU Houston accelerated program for Summer 2008. Received an email stating that we should know our acceptance status by the end of February. Yikes! Well, if anyone gets a letter please post!

Yeah, it was difficult to get into. I was lucky and had a really good GPA...so I got in. I would think a 3.9 would be fine! Just try your hardest, do well on the admissions test, and you'll get in! :)

I like it alright. It has its goods and bads (like all programs)...but I am really learning A LOT! I have a previous degree, and never learned nearly as much as I have my first 2 semesters of nursing school!!

thanks for the replies, everyone. good luck BrittRN2b, we're all rooting for you.

According to the advisor I visited with a few weeks ago, a 3.9 would get you in, more than likely. She even said that a 3.65 would've gotten me in for last cycle.

And, yes, let's DO keep in touch!

I'm finishing up prereqs right now...I'm taking A&P II and Human Growth and Development. In the fall, I just have microbiology. I'm thinking about taking the NET test this summer.

i'm also finishing up pre-req's now. taking a&p 2, intro to chem right now, and i have to take micro in the fall. going to submit my application to the university this week, just to get it out of the way. i'm also thinking about retaking one of my american history classes, cause i made a b in it in college. can't be too careful, i guess.

how is everyone / did everyone prepare for the NET?

yeah, good luck to everyone, let us know how it goes.

As far as the NET test goes: All I did was order that little book that the NET test company sells. I thought it helped me...

Don't seat the NET (ha, that rhymed!). But really, all I did was go to a book store and review the math and reading sections. It was hard to find review books specifically for the NET so I used reviews for basic algebra tests and TAKS reading.

Does anyone know if we can check our status online on the Pioneer Portal? I know other nursing schools have the ability to do an online status check but I haven't been able to find it for TWU when I've looked.

I wasnt able to when I applied (a year ago), but that could have changed. They told me we had to wait for the letter :(

The wait is killing me. My general anxiety level is way up and I've developed a bad habit of scratching my arms (isn't that odd?). I attribute it fully to the bundle of nerves that I am over this waiting on admissions decision. The email said we would know our status by the end of Feb, so that leaves about 8 more days!

Does anyone know how we will find out? I'm guessing a letter in the mail but I'm checking the TWU email daily just in case.

When I found out, it was via snail mail. They didn't update anything on the computer (pioneer portal) until the day of orientation.

I know for my semester, they told us the end of February, then sent us a letter saying it may be later. I think they enjoy making us suffer while we anxiously wait

Oh well, best of luck!!
