Ok so I'm about to start working on all my prereqs this term. In my second term my schedule is going to be A&P2 Chem in liberal arts & college algebra . My advisor was like eeeeeek when I chose to do the 2 sciences... Is that a super terrible idea? Only reason I'm doing it that way is because I have to take Chem before microbio and it will take 4 terms rather than 3 if I do that. I also can apply for nursing program after the second term and finish my 3rd while waiting. I just would like some advice because i don't want to overwhelm myself or end up failing because I did the wrong thing. I would really love some insight. Thank you all :)

If your program in competitive you will need As in all your core sciences. If you can't get As you won't be getting in as easily. It just depends on your program. I personally took my core classes by themselves or with easy GE classes.

Sometimes you just have to. It will be a lot of work and depending on the material, things can overlap (which can be good or bad). I took biology and nutrition at the same time not thinking that they would overlap, but in each class at the same time we wound up talking about lipids, proteins, carbohydrates, and the Kreb's cycle. This fall I had no choice but to register for A&P 1 and Micro if I wanted to apply this spring. I have a feeling there will be a lot of tears, a lot of frustration, a lot of late nights, and a lot of coffee involved. I would have split the two up, but Micro is only offered two terms a year at my school.

The ultimate decision will be yours to make. It's a lot of work but totally doable. I'm taking 14 credits this semester including AP I and Chemistry. Next semester I'll be taking AP II and Micro along with other classes.

Depends... how good are you at science courses? How much time will you have to do your work? How long are the labs? It's all about what you can handle while maintaining the grades necessary for your ultimate goal.

I took A&P II, Chem, and Biology all in one semester, and I'm not going to lie, it was a stressful semester. However, the topics did overlap at times, which made the class a tad easier-- in addition, A&P II was easier than A&P I for me. It really comes down to your strengths and weaknesses. If you have a strong science background or naturally can retain and understand science topics, then I surely recommend you to take both in one semester. If you struggle in previous science course then I would recommend just breaking the two in two semester. Nursing programs are competitive nowadays, and a single B can hurt your chances. Lastly, if you're weak in science, but don't want to delay your application date, then strict academic discipline throughout the semester should surely get you an A. Study hard and good luck!

I took Microbiology, A&P1, and Psychology at the same time (and was working full time, too). Just resign yourself to having no life, study your butt off, and drop one of them if it looks like you're headed for a bad grade. You can do it!

I took Anatomy, Micro, Physiology in the same semester. Drove 2 hours to school to do it 2 days a week. Worked as a CNA 3-4 days a week and studied for my NCLEX-PN. I got B's in all the classes. I really had to set aside a specified time to do schoolwork and basically had no life for 16 weeks. It's a temporary sacrifice. It was worth it. I passed my boards, and now a year later in an RN program at a comm college.
In my opinion, a combined A&P class is easier than taking the anatomy separately from physiology as you need to understand one to understand the other! However, I attended the only school that offered them separately because I was able to take them both at the same time rather than wait am extra semester.

I plan on taking A&P II, Organic Chem and Micro next semester. Everyone keeps telling me that it'll be too hard, but hard is completely relative. I want to get into nursing school in a particular time frame, so my mind is set on doing it this way. I figure if I want it bad enough, I'll make it happen.
Good luck.

I'm taking A&P with Math for Health sciences. Both are points towards nursing program. I had no choice. But I just didn't want to drain out an extra semester if I didn't have to. It is hard but I'm managing so far. I need A's in both classes for 6 points each

I took two science classes together both semesters of my first year of college. It worked out really good for me and I got an A in 3 out of the 4 classes. I was also taking non science classes as well.
