The medical residents are always SO funny, always cracking jokes and hanging out at the nurse's station, waiting for something to do. And the surgeons are the best of all: they never leave their patients' bedside once admitted! No, you can always find that surgeon right there, pushing IV meds, hanging blood, taking lab draws. They even pull up a chair and sleep right there in the room, waiting for that patient to wake up! Truly wonderful.

Many TV shows, like House, have doctors implementing a lot of their orders, which simply isn't realistic. A doctor that hangs IV, does an IV push, CT scans their patients, and does ALL assessments is not at all what it is like. The nurses implement most of the orders, and the doctor is their to manage those orders, to advanced assessments and perform specialized procedures (like placing a UVC/UAC).

While it's well-known that the two or three nurses employed in any hospital are required to look like they stepped off the pages of a fashion magazine at all times, it's less well-known that the entire medical staff has a certain....."image" to live up to.
