Tweety I'm glad you have seen some improvement

NJ22 and Ado sounds like you both had a nice Mother's Day

Dianah glad the bluegrass festival went well

Yesterday was good at work, despite having a coworker off and getting a new case. After work decided to do the grocery shopping as rain is expected today. Didn't do much else except exercise

Today should hopefully be good at work, although today and tomorrow will have to work on the side project. Really nothing else to do after work except exercise. Too early to start packing, will start that tomorrow

Going to be warmer today, in the mid 70s

Good morning!

Welcome back Dianah! Glad you had a good time.

Yesterday was a chore day of sorts. I cleaned the bathrooms did three loads of laundry (although the last is still in the dryer, but it's just white work t-shirts) and washed the car. Afterwards I found out due to the drought they've restricted car washes at my address to once on Saturday's only. The only way to get caught is if a neighbor knew of the restriction and snitched. But they do that, years ago when I moved the automatic sprinkler came on the wrong day and we got a citation. It's long been broken and turned off and I don't water my yard.

Today hope to go to the gym. Going to see The Devil Wears Prada 2 and glad that Ado liked it.

Have a great day.

J22, San Antonio really is a nice city to visit. My sister moved there in 1988 (I thought it was '86 but got corrected at the memorial service). I remember going to the hemisfair in 1968 and going up in the Tower of the Americas (I had a cousin who lived in Austin and we stayed with them a day or two). I agree about Houston, and driving in the heavily populated parts of Texas is pretty awful. But brother lives south of Houston and his wife tells me he really needs us to make the effort remain close, so we'll probably go, and have to drive around Houston. And it has been many years since I've been to Johnson Space Center so that might be worthwhile. Otherwise, I'm all about the beach. Sorry your MiL felt the need to snark.

dianah, it sounds like y'all did the exact right thing for the owlet. Thank you for caring about wildlife! Also sounds like a good time. Please tell me the RV sites had water and electricity and there were bathrooms for the tent campers, though. Roughing it is not on my list of things I want to do anymore.

We're celebrating hospital week at work. Today there is a vendor truck in the parking lot that mixes various iced coffees, energy drinks, and sodas. I got a "sticky bun" cold brew (caramel and cinnamon).

After the movie Saturday I went grocery shopping. The Homeland (formerly Safeway?) stores in Norman are closing and they have things discounted 20-50%. They usually had comparatively high prices, so I hope I actually saved some money over just going to Walmart. I think so. I bought some things I normally wouldn't but that the guys will enjoy.

It's just before noon, so I can still say "Good Morning!" (Oops, now it is afternoon, so amend that greeting.)

Last night I watched "All Of Me" with Steve Martin and Lily Tomlin. Never had seen it before and I thoroughly enjoyed it; it was pretty brilliant, but then again so are Steve Martin and Lily Tomlin. And the happy ending perked me up considerably!

Today I am going to the car dealership for a routine servicing and to get it inspected so I can renew my sticker. (I almost typed "investigated" instead of inspected. Proof I've been reading too much political news lately!)

I have to leave a little early so I can stop by my new bank to get my real balance; I also had recently requested PAPER statements but I don't know when they come out; I want to be sure I have enough $ in the checking account to be able to cover whatever cost this excursion might trigger. Well, I know I do have enough, I just don't know what the actual amount in checking is. By the way, did I ever tell you what the estimate was for the body damage I did when I scraped the passenger side along the carport posts? Good Lord, the estimate was $12, 726.27. EGADS! So it's not likely gonna happen; I mean I could get another 2nd hand car for that. But I'm not going to, because how it looks doesn't affect how it runs and drives, and that's all that really counts to me.

I know I am older and in the South, because now I am really a "ma'am" to EVERYONE! (rolling my eyes) Also I receive offers to help me load the car with all the bags of stuff. I may have to limp a little sometimes, due to the gypsies but I am not yet infirm. I'm not sure if the diagnosis of fibromyalgia is still not widely accepted as being a 'real' thing, though I have had several doctors say that's what I have. When I protested to one that I refused to have that, he changed it (verbally, anyway) to "Wandering Arthralgias and Myalgias" . The word "wandering" was why I started to refer to it as the GYPSIES.

BiL is out there mowing the lawn, so I am going to put the 6 pieces of Nannie-mail and a baggie with SiL's containers that once held banana pudding she'd made. I don't hate banana pudding, I'd just eat a banana, as pudding is not my thing. It was for Nannie, and after she went back to the hosp and then the rehab/nsg home, I forgot it was in the back of the fridge for a while. Not a pleasant thing to encounter when it is considerably past its "due date". 😝 YUCKY brown and nasty looking! But at least since I don't have much of a sense of smell anymore I was not exposed to the horrors of sour smells!

Okay. I have walked the Tinker-girl and had my 2 cups of coffee.Guess I will head out now.

Hope y'all have a lovely day! It is sunny here and will be in the low 70's, which is my 'favorite' temperature. This coming weekend we are supposed to go up into the 90's! AAARRGH!

Later, gators!

Hello. It looks to be a warmer day here. I don't have to go anywhere today! I do need to pack, now that my clothes are clean. We are picking up sis at 745 in the morning, drive to her Dr appointment in Seattle, then eldest ds will pick me up and go the Seattle airport. dh will drive sis home. It looks like the weather in Palo Alto will be similar to here.

dh called his mother this morning, and realized that her seemingly snarky message was about him not showing up to take her to the chiropractor yesterday. He thought her appointment was canceled. Oh well. She is frustrated that any effort takes her breath away, but insists on going to the chiropractor twice a week. Refuses a wheelchair, or a motorized wheelchair, or a ramp. The palliative care nurse suggested help with dressing and bathing and that was met with a resounding No. I just wish her daughters would stop encouraging her to be more active. As we all know, COPD is progressive, and not a matter of attitude. Palliative care suggested that her energy level has a limit, but she and her daughters were having nothing to do with that. Oh well.

While we were out yesterday, the dogs got into a box of Clif bars that dh left on the table. These dogs are very food driven, and will eat whatever they can get. Clif bars are a dense, energy bar, full of fiber. Our boy dog, Punch, ate 2 or 3, and he was "eliminating" them all night. I was up 3 times in the night, and he made a deposit in the bathroom. Ugh.

I am about to go for a walk, and do some watering, and planting. Oh, and packing.

Welp, I was at the dealership for 4 hours. Good thing I had my most recent copy of The WEEK magazine; it is one I read from cover to cover. It keeps me informed pretty well. It is expensive for a year's subscription but is worth it to me, and it helped me not get Impatient in the waiting room. I had an inspection and the guy said my tire was down because it had a screw stuck in it, so they fixed that. They changed the oil and all that good stuff. They told me I was still good on my warranty because my mileage is so low! I have had it for, what, since 2018 and it was used when I bought it, but I haven't even hit 5,000 miles yet! I used to drive a LOT, and go exploring different roads, but since I moved here I am like the proverbial little old lady who just drives to the grocery store, drugstore, etc. I don't think I have even driven out of the county lately! Up in Asheville when I was working Home Health, I covered 3-4 counties and some far-away visits were BID. Here the roads a confusing; I've told you before, I know, that I have gotten lost way out in the countryside, and it is pretty, but that's because the countryside is VERY COUNTRY, and the roads don't make sense; no grid pattern where you can expect to come across a road that goes somewhere to something! Just miles and miles of farms and old farms and pastureland forever. Not complaining, mind you, but for one who used to NEVER get lost, well, it hurts my feelings that I do get lost now.

Tomorrow they are going to call me to set up an appt to have one of the dealerships "200 point inspections" ( ! .... $?....) because I am going to get my warranty from them for when the one I am on (from them) since I bought the car (from them) eventually runs out, and I won't have to worry about it. I can pay $255/mo (automatic withdrawal payments) for 12 months and the warranty will be good for 10 years. It does help that I have been taking my car to them all the time, for anything it needs. They know me, I am a regular, loyal customer. And a senior citizen to boot. I sure hope my car passes muster! I can be thankful for, and use whatever discount they give me!

My gosh I just did it again, one of my fingers stuttered and I ended up deleting an entire paragraph about supper! It will be chicken, mashed potatoes from the oven, and I will nuke either, what my mother jokingly used to call "s'pinch", or maybe Brussels Sprouts, a few minutes before the chicken is done. I had to get a timer at the store last week because I'd put a pizza in the oven and forget it. Sometimes I haven't burnt it too badly, but a few times it was, um, "Blackened Pizza". BLECH! Not very enticing at that point, doncha know! I like the thin cauliflower crust with no tomato sauce, and I add things like maybe extra cheese and olives and such. Now I am making myself hungrier, and there's still 10 more minutes to go! I can make it ten minutes, so no problem. But I have been hungry all afternoon and resisted the urge to visit the snack machine at the dealership.

Might as well go nuke the veggie now!

Hello all!

Good to hear a recommendation of The Devil Wears Prada. I will probably start watching The Other Bennet Sister, via BritBox. I have been waiting for this to come to the US! I will try all the new Jane Austen book adaptations (I DO have my faves).

Ado, we have a small (24ft total) Class C RV (with the over-the-cab bed), and when we can get electric, we'll pay for it! We have a generator we can use to power the A/C, but we will usually endure temps below 100 degrees, as 1) we hate to take the effort of closing all the windows and 2) the A/C is LOUD! And, in our opinion, the A/C is somewhat helpful if the temps are really high but it's certainly not like home A/C. So, again, we endure. We use three fans in the RV during the day, to move air. The temperature eventually drops down with the late afternoon and onset of evening, which is when we usually go in search of a jam!

We carry our own supply of water and I always carry separate drinkable (I guess the term is "potable") water; the "house" water is for showers and cleaning dishes. This festival, we did NOT pay for electricity or water, we went "dry camping." We have a water pump on board, and it will pump water so we can shower or use our own toilet (also have a holding tank). There is a fresh water tank, a "gray" water tank (for showers, dish water, etc) and a "black" tank for the toilet deposits. The festival folks provided MANY port-a-potties, throughout the campgrounds and near the main stage area. So, tent campers and others who were dry camping could use those.

In June we will drive up to Northern California for a festival, and we have reserved stays at two campgrounds on the way. It extends our travel time, but is not as tiring as driving an RV 8-10 hours a day. At those campgrounds we will have water, electricity, and sewer services. At the festival we will have electricity. The festival is held at a fairgrounds, and has toilet (flush toilets, not just port-a-potties!) shower facilities available for campers.

Well, that's more than you wanted to EVER know about supplying RVs with water and RV disposal systems, eh? Honestly, the RV is a fair amount of work (dh does most of the set-up and take-down in-between traveling) but it is pretty comfortable, I gotta say, and not much like roughing it, IMO. Of course, there are much larger and VERY luxurious RVs around -- Oh My Goodness, yes! Ours is 15 yr old and looks it, but it all functions well and we are happy with its size and amenities.

Oh, nursej22, poor doggies, eating then eliminating those Clif bars! And poor you, handling the extra output! Palo Alto -- I lived in Palo Alto for a couple years, in my Junior High days. Probably couldn't afford to live there now! We lived in an apartment right across from the Bayshore Freeway; I'm sure it was on the less expensive side of town! But it had a swimming pool, as I recall, and we enjoyed that. Took a bus to school.

No Stars, YES, use that timer!! Nothing worse than getting taste buds all ready for a meal (pizza, in this case), and then having it BURNT!! Sounds like you are being responsible, getting the car serviced. Hello to Tinker!

Enjoy your evening!

I was going to saute some beef, and I was going to put it in the crockpot with "budaydoes" (taters) carrot KOYNZ (coins), and unyungs. I was going to let it sit on low overnight and talk itself into being cooked by morning.......but I 4-got. Mebbe 2-morry I'll do it.

Oh! I saw a road sign today, for a street that is named "Punchy Road"! Wonder how that name came about? I imagined a lot of possibilities, but it's not worth going into now. I am feeling a little punchy myself, as you can tell from my 1st paragraph. Now I gotta carry all my stuff upstairs and get ready for bed. While I am getting out of my clothes and into my PJ's and taking meds and pouring out the ones for the morning....Tinker always grabs her chew-bone and gnaws the time away; I used to tell her constantly that if she was a human being, she'd have to do a LOT more things than she does now and those things do take TIME! So she's learned to be patient with me, for the most part.

So nice to be back among the natives here! As the Indians in Neverland, the Peter Pan version from the ?1950's? said and danced: "Ugga-wugga-wigwam" My brother and I used to copy them sometimes. We were a silly bunch. I usta be a silly bunch all by myself! 🤪

G'night!
