Tweety I've noticed that grief does tend to pop up unexpectedly

Ado I find my phone doesn't do great pictures so I use the camera when I'm out

Yesterday was good at work, the insurance company's software was back up, though thankfully I did not get any new cases. Was able to work on the side project. Towards the end of the day our case management software failed but I was able to still make progress using the insurance company's software for information and a list of calls I had to make. I will still have to transfer the information to the case management software but I was able to get everything done. Had time in the afternoon to do a CEU

After work was fairly quiet, just exercised and took it easy. Cat woke me up yowling last night, first time he has done that. After petting him a bit I was able to get back to sleep

Today should be an ordinary day at work as long as the case management software is back up. After work will do the grocery shopping and some cleaning

Will be warm and humid today in the mid 90s

Good morning!

Joe, hope that doesn't become a habit with your cat.

I have a friend that just adopted a new cat and it stayed hidden under the dresser or bed for nine days. Finally is starting to explore but won't let him pet him just yet. Cats I guess are different sometimes. All my adopted dogs craved attention and settled in just fine.

I take my camera out when I travel to take lots of pictures, but also use my phone to take some social media pics on my travels as well. Otherwise for everyday use it's my phone.

Got my new crown put into and no issues. Dad and myself sister are coming over for lunch. Her 1st ex-husband is coming as well. He's down visiting the daughter they had together and his grandchildren but is staying with my father and sister in their Airbnb I'm glad everyone gets along.

I bought a box of coffee from Starbucks since I didn't feel like dragging out my coffee maker. My grandparents are probably rolling over in their graves that I spent over $20 on a box of coffee, but I did use a gift certificate and got it for free.

Going to make a pasta dish after everyone leaves to eat in the coming days that I'm working. I've already prepped three lunches for work.

Good morning. I took MiL to her chiropractor yesterday. Her appointment is always at 1050 in the morning, and somehow the whole day gets used for that. I leave my house at 1015, and get home around 1230, eat lunch and suddenly it's 5 pm.

dh went to the neurosurgeon yesterday to follow up on some pain and tingling he's had in his hands. He had a cervical neck fusion about 20 years ago, and afterward, the neurosurgeon told him the issue may reoccur. Starting 6 months after the surgery, dh started thinking his symptoms were back. After yet another MRI, the neurosurgeon says surgery site is fine, as I suspected. So, he's going to get a lumbar MRI and an EMG. I suspect he has diabetic neuropathy, which more than one Dr. has told him. He has finally agreed to try neurontin.

Tweety, I am sorry if I said the wrong thing about the 92 year old who had the stroke. I feel like when people reach such advanced age that too much testing is done that probably won't change outcomes. I didn't mean that your mother didn't deserve medical treatment, if that was your family wishes. I used to see many families who agreed to testing thinking it would improve their loved one's health, but in reality, testing was futile.

Almost 3:30 PM, and it's been, so far, another day of doing NAWTHING! Have to at least call the "Relocation Office" of my Car Insurance people so they can send this County Tax office the info about my switch to Florida car insurance. I go get my FL driver's license this week; I have all the documents I need, but I just have to gather them in one spot to take with me to my 11 AM appt on Thursday. Prolly should go to the bank with the largest balance tomorrow AM, and transfer some of that to the the bank which has my debit card, because this all is going to take a chunk of moola.

Did some more researching about Senior Independant Living apts, and got a definite sinking feeling in my gut, because pretty much all of them are like places I used to work doing private duty cases, and ..... ugh. Nothing WRONG with them, it's just that I don't feature myself LIVING FULL TIME within those populations. It would not be like I get to go home at the end of a shift, y'know. I prolly can only afford a studio apt. with the subsidized assistance, and I feel now like I would most likely lock myself in my room like a hermit and my soul would shrivel up. I read of their available resources and activities, etc. and ....ugh, again. Just like the places where I used to work. I know I don't have to make a decision right away, and even if I do make some kind of decision and apply to a few of those residences, the waiting list could be quite a L-O-N-G one. But I've pretty much decided against the one Tweety sent me a link to; it is right IN the city and has very little space around it, and LOTS of homeless folks draped around here and there, on the edge of a not very savory neighborhood, and not much of a park area available to walk Tinker. Plus it is more likely than not that I would not get an 'Ocean View' from an upper floor. And the Baptist igh Rise, well, I'd hate to be UP HIGH there if the electricity failed! And "A Place For MOM" is already out because their prices are at least twice as much, or more, than I get each month for Social Security! So, I guess I will keep looking,

Where is there a Fairy God Mother when you need one?

I was just a bit confused as I was equating this son's acceptance of his mother's decline and possible stroke, and relating it to my recent experience. He understood that at 92 anything could happen and her days were numbered at best. Probably didn't communicate that well.

We took mom to the hospital for diagnosis of her shortness of breath and to fast track her into hospice. She was diagnosed with ESRD and HF and we stopped any further testing and treatment and took her home after an overnight stay. The only test she had was labs and chest X-ray. If it was just fluid overload and we could have pulled off fluid and got her back to baseline we understood that was a band aid, but she would have been more comfortable breathing in the short term.

(Also a stroke isn't always an easy way to go. My former brother in law's mother had a devastating stroke, but was alert and oriented although couldn't talk, move half her body or swallow. Took her 13 days to die, but thankfully she had a living will and could clearly communicate through nodding her head her desire to use it to not feed her or treat her.)

It is indeed frustrating when there is too much testing and treatment that is futile. We just went through this with a daughter whose 85 year old father had metastatic cancer and dementia. She wanted too much done.

Anyway, had a nice afternoon lunch. We had cake and ice cream and had some good conversation.

The calendar says it's the first of September, and sure enough when I went to get coffee this morning someone had left a pod in the Keurig with "Pumpkin Spice" coffee. It's going to be a few weeks before it feels like fall around here.

This used to be the time of year when I'd start listening to Jimmy Buffett songs and feeling melancholy. I don't do that so much anymore. I still like Buffett songs, though. In Indiana I guess the end of Summer had more impact.

Hello all!

Joe, I hope the day goes smoothly. Frustrating that the software is flaky, though it's good you are able to work around its failures.

Tweety, cake and ice cream, oooooo, haven't had that in a LONG time! Glad you enjoyed it! What's for the lunches?

Agree, some folks find it hard to differentiate between futile testing of an aged loved one (so they feel like they are doing something), and testing with a purpose to improve quality of life.

No Stars, perhaps you can find a similar arrangement: a room for rent? But without dogs and additional family members moving in... The subsidized housing sounds woefully inadequate.

nursej22, I hope the neurontin helps your dh.

I couldn't sleep last night, in spite of vigorous exercise early in the day. So I slept in. I just returned from the grocery store, and in about an hour will get ready to go walk with S. I got supplies to make a one-pot pasta dish (with my low-carb pasta). I just get hungry, now and then, for pasta and tomatoes, spinach, mushrooms, and italian spices. :) And paramecium cheese. 😁😁

Have a good evening!
