Happy St. Patrick's Day!

It's my late ex's birthday may be rest in peace.  Nine out of our ten years together were good ones.

Feeling a it better today.  Let's hope I'm on the mend.  It's not my m.o. to get sick, get better, and then relapse like that.   Going to meet best friend for lunch that he's cooking.  He just texted that his crazy neighbor was arrested.  Not sure what that's about.  He's been a bit abusive and has no electricity and stealing electricity and they've been building a case against him.  See where it goes.  He really needs to go to a psych facility and hope he gets the help he needs.

My air conditioner came on yesterday afternoon and sometime through the night the heat came on as it was in the upper 40's this AM.  Very usual for this time of year but not unheard of.

Glad you're feeling better Tweety

Tried to post earlier but the site was down

Yesterday was pretty good at work.  After work exercised and did a Zoom meeting with the events committee with the gay group

Vet called, and as I suspected we overshot on the thyroid medicine and now it's too low.  Which would explain the lack of appetite.  So we're reducing the dosage again. She has little appetite today and hasn't taken the treats with her pills, but I figure once her thyroid levels begin rising she'll be hungrier and will be willing to take them again

Had a new case at work this morning but hasn't been too bad otherwise, afternoon should be pretty quiet

Only going to be in the low 20s today

My nephew called this morning to say my sister died this morning. I came home and Hubs pointed out that his mother's fingers were mottling. The hospice team has been here and she has had a dose of morphine because she was tachycardic. BP 90/60. She still wakes (and fights).

I don't even know what to say.

Oh, Ado, what a time you are having! I'm sorry to hear about your sister passing away and Gma's mottled fingers. It seems like the last couple of weeks/months there are a LOT of folks dying. I am ashamed to add, but will still do so, that so far Nannie has not been affected with this 'trend'.

It is sunny, but quite cold outside....42 degrees, with a very cold wind. I took Tinker out and now I have to go pick up a refill at the pharmacy, get some gas regardless of the price, and pick up some dog treats. Other than that I am feeling pretty good that I have some more time before Nannie is discharged from rehab.

Ado, my condolences on loss of your sister.  And Gma?  Good hospice is involved (I know you know that).

Tweety, glad you are feeling better.

Joe, I hope your cat's thyroid levels return to normal-ish and the appetite picks up.  Dh worries about the cats when one of them doesn't eat the way he wants them to.

I will cook today.  Probably bake dh some oatmeal-raisin cookies too.  Time for lunch!  Have a good afternoon and evening!

My condolences Ado

Annie, I am so sorry for your loss. I have always found comfort in the traditional Jewish response to loss "may her memory be a blessing"

I just got home from having lunch with my sisters. My oldest sister gave me a wind chime as a belated birthday gift. I found out the other sister, whom I thought had a bunch of genealogy data on CDs has had it all uploaded into an online data base. She sent me the link, so I think I will renew my Ancestry.com membership and delve into that. We are talking about going to Ireland next year, so I would like to find out where some family in my mom's side is from. Most of my dad's family is from Finland.

I need to go pot up some flower bulbs I got at the flower and garden show, but I am out of gas. Perhaps a nap will recharge me.

j22~ Wouldn't it be wild to find out your dad's people and my dad's people (Finns, all) either knew each other, or even that maybe you and I are related somewhere back in the past?! w00t! ?

I've been watching The Curse of Oak Island, on the History Channel. Pretty interesting. They said something about 6 people having died while searching for some long-rumored treasures hidden there, some call it "a money pit"; and it has also been said  that when the seventh person died searching for the treasure, THEN the treasure would be revealed. I dunno, but I wouldn't want to be one of today's searchers in case I was to be the 7th one! I never have paid any attention to anything about Oak Island before, except that I know that SiL and her sister (and families) have vacationed at or near Oak Island. Anyway, if it wasn't for the fact that there are no programs on lately that I want to watch, or have already watched (maybe numerous times), I probably wouldn't be searching for other things to watch.

The people are examining things on the island that were found under a very, very large (40,000 lbs) rounded stone,  little 'clues' as it were. Periodically one specialist or another has said, about one discovery or another, "I've never seen anything like this!" A wild mystery, for sure. There are other HUGE round stones that have been found and they are 'sure' that the cross formed by the way the large boulders are lined up relates to certain astronomical or astrological stars in the sky and they think it is something significant, intentional, amazing, and startling. But I  don't suppose they will be discovering any actual treasures tonight! It is kind of intriguing to watch and listen to, though.

Okay, enough for now. I hope all of y'all have a really good week with no more tragedies or problems, and just maybe some GOOD answers and/or occurrences.

I took a short nap after lunch, then after I woke up, stormed the kitchen and baked oatmeal-raisin cookies for dh, and made hungarian mushrooms paprikash.  We eat it over my low-carb pasta, instead of making the "nokedli (small Hungarian egg dumplings/spaetzle)."  That will be a nice meal tonight.  Tomorrow I will make chicken tomatillo soup, for tucking away into the freezer.  But right now, my back is tired and I want to rest a bit.  Dh will soon feed the felines.

It is 93 degrees out (6:10pm)!!  Thursday I have an appointment to get our taxes done.  Fingers crossed we don't have to pay a lot.  We usually don't, but one never knows!

Besides being half Greek, I have some Irish and/or Scottish in my background.  Great-grandparents' names were Bell and Sutter.  My sister, before she passed, did a lot of the ancestry digging.  I don't quite have the stick-to-it-I've-ness to do it.  And I like that, nursej22, "may her memory be a blessing" (it is!).

Have a good evening!

Stars, for what its worth, my great-grandfather (father's grandfather) was from Lappajärvi, Finland. His son, my grandfather, was born in Minnesota, as was my dad. They moved west during the Depression.
