Trying to keep positive

Hello,

I'm interested in going into the nursing program at Daytona State College, all my prerequisites are completed, except I need to retake APII, but my Cumulative GPA is only 2.83. I know you have to have a 2.5 to apply to the program and you're ranked according to GPA, but what are my chances to get in? Do they even consider people under 3.0?

Thank you for your response in advance.

Just as you said it, you are ranked by GPA. I don't mean to discourage you, but the cut off GPA at the school I attended was 3.40(160 applicants selected).Getting into a nursing program is very competitive, especially if there are a limited amount of applicants selected. Your advisor should have discussed your chances of being selected. Good luck!

GPA was not the only factor in my program, TEAS score, and time since applied in program mattered. I had listed nursing as the program before taking the additional prereqs. Just apply, and if you are declined, find out why. Maybe retake one of your low classes to boost your grade. Whether or not you get in will depend on the number of applicants and what their numbers are. Maybe you can apply for starting in a summer session that may have fewer applicants if you are declined.

According to an advisor, 2.95 was the lowest GPA they accepted for spring 2015, so you may have a chance!
