I have begun testing, finished CEUs, took a refresher course, and have an active restricted license.
Now the search begins. I have put seven applications out and not heard a word. A MAJOR hospital is closing right by me and the network will absorb 2500 employees or so they say. I think the market is saturated by folks fleeing that mess and the remaining hospitals in the network will be try to take the rest.
I am feeling a little hopeless and sick to my stomach this morning about it all.

Hang in there. You have come this far. I have read on this forum that some nurses go the route of SNF/LTC and dialysis.
Do not give up. I myself, am awaiting a decision on if the BON will re-issue my license. It has been frustrating, to say the least. I am hoping for a decision soon.
I am sending positive vibes your way! Keep us posted!

When I started my job hunt, I only applied to restriction/monitoring friendly places. As suggested above, the SNF/LTC and dialysis route. I only applied to 2 places and landed a job in dialysis. Do lots of research on this site and practice how you will respond to question and it will pay off. It's a tough road, one that many have walked before. You got this and have come so far. Best of luck!
P.S. If you have been sober awhile, I know treatment centers will hire restricted license nurses as well.

Yeah, my thoughts go to both of you RN & Berdeen. As you both intimately know the hardest part of this programs are the mind games and the financial devastation that's attached to them. As other posters have stated SNFs & Dialysis seen to be a very popular route for employment for those of us marked with the big red M (for monitoring program) on our forehead. RN your case is totally different. Yu would think if you were a danger to patients that the BON would have removed you from their presence ASAP. The fact that they haven't (to me) means that you are not given that they have known about your situation for so long. I'm not the one making the decisions but to remove you from employment given all that you have been through would seem particularly cruel and stupid even by Nazi standards
