I have been working as a patient educator in a five surgeon bariatric surgery practice. 9-5 M-F generally with tons of flexibility. Weekends and holidays off.
I am leaving this to go into Professional Development, which is mainly M-F with occasional weekend and/or night shift appearances to share education material.
My stress level and quality of life is far better off 12 hour shifts. It just was time.

Hey nurses! I have been a nurse for 6 years with experience in GI Lab, Med/Surg, Telemetry and CVICU. I have come to realize that I don't want to work these hours anymore. I know it's nice to have 4 days off per week, but I am off when family & friends and working and working when they are off! Also, I miss out on so many holidays. I would rather have an 8-5 job. I have applied for case management positions and waiting to hear back. What other options do I have outside of bedside? Also, what are the best areas within case management?
