Transcripts: California BRN

Published

Hello,

To those of you who are applying for RN licensure in California, I would like to ask about transcripts sent to the BRN.

Did you only send transcripts from your nursing school, showing all required nursing courses and the degree awarded?

If you attended other colleges before nursing school to do pre-requisit coursework, did you also submit transcripts from those colleges?

I'm just curious, because I was told by an advisor at my school that we only had to send a final transcript from our nursing school, showing that we completed the program. I never sent transcripts from the other colleges I attended. I just read somewhere that this may be required, and it's got me kind of nervous.

I recently took my NCLEX, and I'm waiting for my results.

Thank you

Call the BRN for an answer. As I recall, the application states they want them from all schools attended.

I have extra transcripts on hand that are sealed. Does anyone know if I can send these in myself along with my application for examination? There are a couple I do not have so I have requested those be sent directly to the BRN but I don't want to have to re-order transcripts that I already have. I have looked at the BRN website and it does say have it sent from the colleges/universities. I did try to call them but it's impossible to reach them by phone {{big sigh}}.

Thank you for any information!!

Laurie

I am pretty certain the transcipts must come from the institution, but I would call and ask to make certain.

Drats. That's what I was afraid of. Better to be safe than sorry so I will order the transcripts from all the institutions. Thank you so much for replying! :)

P.S. It's impossible to reach the BRN by telephone. I've tried for days. lol...

My school said the same -- only send official transcripts from the nursing school. My school sent in an additional sheet of paperwork listing the other pre-requisite coursework I completed at other schools -- I guess this supposedly verifies completion of all requirements to the BRN...

I took my NCLEX on Sept 2 & I'm still waiting for results.

Now I'm nervous too! Hopefully everything is in order.

I imagine the BRN would send a letter that your application documents were incomplete if they needed the other transcripts...

Did you try the Pearson pop up trick? I know it's not official but from what I read it let's you know one way or the other while waiting for the real deal in the mail.

Fingers crossed that you passed!

Let us know :)

Ya, I did the PVT trick and got the good pop-up...it kinda helps but I still want the real results. Now I'm kinda freaking out because my classmates (some who took NCLEX after me at a different place) have already shown up on the BON website but not me...

One girl in my class took NCLEX the same day as me, at the same place, but she took in the morning & I took in the afternoon. She already found out she passed too. Nothing for me though.

This wait is awful!!! :crying2:

Good news about the pop-up but there is nothing like the official posting to let you breathe that sigh of relief. The waiting must be brutal! Hoping that your results are posted very soooooon! :)

Well, I did email the BRN yesterday...not really expecting a reply BUT they did send a reply and said that if they receive envelopes that are sealed they 'should' be able to accept them. By that time I had already put the wheels in motion to have them sent from the institutions. The word 'should' isn't very reassuring though...lol

I am wondering about the transcripts from other schools too. I'm guessing I'm supposed to have them sent as prereqs and GE courses do "reflect the degree awarded." Does anyone know if it's okay to have these past transcripts sent before my graduation date in December? Nothing will change on them between now and then, but the BRN Transcripts Request form does say not to sign or submit the form prior to completion of the nursing program. Anyone????
