I am almost 46 and an LPN, I am still working on prerequisites for RN. I figure I might be done by 48, with an adn. Always loved the thought of working in the OR.
Would I even be considered? Or am I getting too old? Probably be 50 before I have a BSN.
Thanks!

How old are you going to be in two years if you don't get an ADN? How old will you be in four years if you don't go for a BSN?
Get some exposure to OR nursing so you're sure it's what you want to do. Perhaps arrange to shadow in the OR as part of a class project? And then, once you know what you're getting into, go for it!

The simple answer to your question is no, you wouldn't be too old. It depends on you and how well you learn and retain information. Lots of information. There's a young lady, Florence Rigney, from Tacoma General Hospital who was recognized for working in the OR into her 90's...
Here's a page talking about her...
I will add though, congrats for continuing to pursue your goals.
Lastly, I highly recommend the above comment to go see what the OR is about, and not just one day on one case. There are often times that you will see one nurse do something who has been doing it for years makes a task seem easy, but another nurse who's relatively new will struggle, e.g. positioning/transferring the patient safely. The number one cause of on the job injuries in my OR has been lifting injuries, but that's likely in the same in many nursing settings. If you've got problems with lifting or transferring patients, the OR may exacerbate it, especially if you don't use your resources if they're available.

I work with a woman in her late 60s and she has more energy then me. So I think it depends on you.
