Too Old?

On the other side of the coin, how old were most of you when you became NPs? I am 30 right now, will be 32 when I get my RN, and then a school in my state offers an RN-MSN program. I'd be about 36 by the time I graduated as an NP. I know that's not "old" really, just wondered what the average age around here is?

Got my RN in Germany at the ripe old age of 26, and my RN in the US with 48! Currently persuing MSN/NP; my kids think i'm nuts...I say that's a prerequisite for nursing anyway! Figured I will work until I keel over...so I'm going for it!

I am 48 and should graduate from my MSN/NP program in May 2007 when I am 49!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go for it.

Let's see, Diploma in Nursing when I was 24. BSN completed when I was 31. MSN/ACNP completed when I was 34.

wow, i didn't know i was old, lol. i am 40 right now and in an adn program. i have all my pre reqs done to complete my bsn later, and i probably won't stop after that. nursing will be my second career, but i don't feel old at all, infact there are some in my class that are way older. oh, i also have 2 young boys, one 4 and my youngest turns 2 on st. patricks day. who knows i might try one more time for a girl. i must say i have always lived my life to the fullest and have just done things when it felt right for me not when everyone said i should. let me tell you i had a whole lotta fun before having my fist baby 3 days before i turned 37. i actually am happier and feel more at peace with myself than i ever did before. it feels like the older i get the more i know and like myself, and the less i care what other people think. anyone else feel like that????

got my 2nd career as a nurse at 45. never too late!
