Do you ever get tired of certain calls? Some nights I feel like I am going to scream if I read cough/congestion/fever. Other nights I get sick of talking about vomiting. I could do earache calls all day b/c the protocol is so short. Same with pinkeye or sore throat.

I had to laugh when I read your post - it sounded so familiar - especially in winter I hate influenza and fever calls, chickenpox and diarrhoea! I long for the challenge of something different - but then when I wish that, I end up with some really challenging call... :trout:

I used to work as triage line for pediatrics. Once my sister in law called me late at night and from my bed i gave her the vomiting protocol off the top of my head. My husband was surprised I had it all memorized.

I'm with you on that...this weekend we had at least 25 pink eye calls. We had several months of v/d calls, now it's of course flu/strep/cough. My favorite...my baby has a high fever...okay what is it and how old is your baby...she's 12 and it's 99.8. I'm like WHAT?!?!?!?

Oh and don't forget the question: "Should I take my baby to the ER for the fever" and again, the fever is 99.8 or something. I've even given a recommendation to call their physician, and they then say: "So you are saying I need to go to ER"...uh no...I want you to call your doctor.
Or if they don't need to go to the ER or they can wait until regular business hours but they argue and decide to go to the ER anyway...it's like uhm why did you call anyway?
My absolute fav...what is their temperature? Well they feel really warm I'd say like 102...I'm like ok and write "haven't checked" LOL

If I never saw another "I'm so constipated" or "I've got diarrhea" message again, I'd be thrilled.

I did pediatric telephone triage over 10 years ago and still remember, and use, some of the protocols.
