Tips with NJ BON?

Published

Hi there,

Just wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks with the NJ Board of Nursing for APN Licensure process. I have submitted items in August that still are not checked off.

I call about 3 times per week... with no updates.

My file has been "escalated" twice now.

I have emailed multiple times with no response.

I have resubmitted the items not checked off.

I am not sure how long it is normally supposed to take (I have read and been told all different things).. but my last submission of items was 8/3/22.. that's 10 weeks ago! Super frustrating.

Thanks for any insight!

Go to the actual BON offices in Newark. I remember that they were helpful in person and also really nice, but that was in 2017.

Thank you! I did see that in another post but wasn’t sure if anyone had any luck.  So that is helpful to hear. I don’t live too far so I’m going to make a trip and see what I can find out.

Hi,

I just submitted my NJ APN application on 9/22/22. Reading your post is a little discouraging in that you have not received your license from your August application. Please update us regarding your visit to BON office.

Thank you

Please keep us updated. Submitted application early September.

Good morning,

Just finished at the board of nursing in Newark. It was totally worth going. My license was processed in less than 20 minutes. My number should be generated by the end of the day.
if you can go, go! They were very nice there.

@Sbar201, APN did you happen to get someone’s direct contact info when you went there? If so, please inbox me. I have no means of transportation to drive up there at the moment. I passed my boards on Sept 16, 2022 and still no license number yet. They expedited it twice but still nothing. It’s frustrating!

Hi Ariel-Lpn2RN,

I have experienced tremendous progress on my APN app just over the last 2 days. I was surprised to see activity on a Sunday. I am just waiting for board approval now, which I am expecting some time this week. It looks like they may have hired more people and are starting to process Apps faster. Good luck!

Do you mind sharing what part was left unchecked?' I somehow answered the plead the fifth question wrong and had to submit a letter stating that I answered it incorrectly, now im waiting for it to be reviewed. I have called multiple times and they said they cant expedite it any faster because it has to go to the review board and they would put in a request for review but only a processor could handle it. So im just wondering what was your hold up to see if it would actually be worth making the drive up there.

Did you bring any additional documents with you when you went? Or, did they just process you quickly simply because you were physically there? Did you make an appointment?

Unfortunately, I applied for my APN in late November 2022, and I am still waiting. I have called the board at least four or five times at this point. Several items are still unchecked despite me letting them know the exact date they were emailed by the applicable institutions (transcripts, ANCC certification).

For me.. it was my board certification and my narcotic course that were pending a long time. And then I also couldn't pay for the fee until those items were checked off.

I brought everything I could possibly think of with me just in case but they wound up not requiring anything. I guess they could see the items I uploaded. I think it processed quickly just because I showed up. I don't think they make appointments. I would suggest getting there early because a line forms for sure.
