Tips on getting into school

Published

I have a bachelors degree in health science and I've been trying to get into a nursing program for over a year now. I slacked my first 2 years of college because I had no idea what I was even in school for but when I started my job as a CNA my junior year I Just knew I HAD to be a nurse. I love my job now, I look forward to going to work everyday and I want to take that next step. I've applied to several accelerate program and been rejected from them all. I have an overall 3.1 gpa which I know isn't competitive, I worked so hard my last couple years of school once I got I started as a CNA but I had a very low gpa after my first 2 years. I have an A in all of my nursing prerequisites and excellent reviews from my employer. I applied for a normal 4 year program and was accepted as a transfer pre nursing but I get into the actually nursing program is academically competitive and again I feel like I'm just going to be told no. Does anyone have any tips to make my application stand out? I want this so badly and I know if they would just let me in I know I can do great, but no program can look past my low gpa

Excuse the typing errors that don't make sense, I'm on my phone.

I was going to suggest getting experience but you already have the CNA position.

I then was going to suggest improving your grades but you have all As in your prereqs.

How about getting volunteer experience? Apply for a volunteer position at a hospital or skilled nursing facility. If you need to submit test scores then try to raise those up.

Try an adn program that only looks at prerequisite gpa.
