Yesterday looked to be yet another bad day, as I got not 1 but 2 new cases overnight and had a fair amount on my schedule. Thankfully both were completed by early afternoon and the rest of the day was calm. Was calm after work too, just stayed in and exercised

Today should be easier, workload is light, no meetings although I do have to work on the side project. Not much planned after work still pretty warm and still an air quality alert

Going to be a little cooler today, only in the mid 90s

    I didn't sleep well, the upper arm is a full-blown cellulitis now, and it itches and is uncomfortable. So there. I called Kaiser at 0600, to inquire about a walk-in, same-day appointment at the facility in town. They had nothing till tomorrow. So I drove to the Fontana Urgent Care. Left at 0800, and they are open 9-9. I got to the department around 0835. I was seen and outta there with my prescription within an hour. Drove home (took the Keflex before I left the parking lot) and got in an hour of sleep, at least. I predict I will lie down after lunch for a snooze as well.

    The upper arm is pretty edematous and red and hot, skin stretched and firm near the bite (or sting) area. The itching is VERY vexing. I do with it what I did, years ago, with poison oak. Put it under hot water -- as hot as I can stand, for as long as I can stand. It hurts so GOOD!! And when I take it out from under the hot stream, the itch is temporarily relieved, hallelujah! I have ice on it now, and some cortisone cream. Will take Keflex QID for five days.

    Tomorrow dh has his initial ortho appointment for his trigger fingers. It would be cool if he had an injection tomorrow, we'll see (as I said yesterday, I think).

    Dianah, sorry about the cellulitis and glad you're getting it taken care of. Hope the Keflex takes care of it. Keflex does not cover MRSA which a lot of these things tend to be so be watchful and let them know if things don't improve.

    I already have crappy dental insurance. They even only pay 80% of cleaning. They covered about 1/4th of the cost of a crown. But if I need other crown the max benefit will be achieved.

    We had a retirement party for someone that's a year younger than me. I'm jealous but I'm sure she's earned but being part of a couple helps. Her younger husband still works.

    I'm off tomorrow and making plans to make lunch for best friend and then watch TV and have a proper day off.

    ah, its feels good to be home. I have 2 doggies who have been velcroed to me since I walked in the door. We awoke to a thunderous hailstorm, that changed to rain and lightning. We took our time getting ready to leave, at least until the rain let up.

    Joe, I hope your day is smooth. Are you getting smoke from Canada?

    Dianah, yikes, thats pretty scary about your arm. When one of my femoral punctures gram stain showed MRSA they switched me from Keflex to doxycycline, and it took 2 rounds to clear it up. I have found that spray benedryl helps with itch. I alternate it with betamethasone cream (RX) for my itches.

    I hope Mr. Dianah gets quick treatment.

    Thanks for the heads-up re: Keflex and MRSA. I made a f/u appt with the local provider group for Tues, just to get it eyeballed once post-treatment. So far it is responding well to the abx, what a relief. Itching, edema, and redness have all decreased with 24 hr of treatment. The provider I was did say I should see improvement within 24-48 hr, and I squeezed in all four of the doses yesterday.

    Despite Tylenol and Benadryl, I only slept 2 hr, and am now awake. I did a hot water therapy, which helped the itch, and then spread cortisone cream on affected areas. I may go get some Benadryl spray too.

    Later I will do some loads of laundry. Dh's appt was changed to next month. I think AI wasn't smart enough to hook him up with a hand specialist, so he got a text about the change. Sad he has to wait another month, but good he is now scheduled with a hand specialist.
