Thoughts on test prep classes???

Published

I have signed up for a Kaplan test prep class for the NCLEX and what to get peoples opinion on if it is worth paying the money for. It is relatively expensive and I just wanted to get a feeling for if people find it really helpful and worthwhile or not. Any thoughts?

I liked the kaplan class and the most helpful part of the program for me was the qbank and qtrainers. They looked exactly like the nclex which made me very comfortable taking the nclex, it made the nclex feel like a very large qtrainer test. What helped me the most was practicing questions and really seeing what the questions asked, the kaplan questions were nclex style so looking for key words and negatives were skills I learned using the questions.

I didn't really like the content lectures too much but the HURST content videos were very good. If you get a friend to buy hurst you can just share both programs for the price of one. If you're short on money I would only get the $300 qbank because the decision tree can be found online and the qtrainers can be found online too

I used the hurst videos with the kaplan qbank and I passed with 75 questions in about 45 minutes

I used Kaplan exclusively and it helped me pass. I actually did the online course for a week and it forced me to sit down and study and plan out how many questions I would do per day. My online instructor was really helpful too and our "class" formed a facebook group to field questions and encourage each other. I had a great experience with them. That being said, I also took the course and NCLEX relatively quickly after graduation so I was used to studying and the material wasn't too unfamiliar. I definitely recommend taking the course and using the qbank and qtrainers to prep right before the NCLEX. Good luck!

Kaplan is good, I recommended.

I finished my NCLEX exam today at 0945 and was wondering about the Pearson trick and how long I have to wait.

You dont have to wait a certain amount of time you could do it right after you take your exam.

Yes Kaplan is great, questions are really close to the ones you see in the real test. The Qbank has tons of questions including alternate ones.

I studied out of the yellow Saunders book only and passed NCLEX on my first try. I did not take any expensive course to prepare If your school made you pass ATI or HESI competence exams throughout the program, you are already prepared for the NCLEX
