This is expensive.

This is my second semester of nursing school. I am feeling soooooo burnt out. I love school and I'm working my butt off to keep up with it, but working and keeping money in the bank seems like an insurmountable feat. To me, that is the most discouraging part of this whole thing thus far.

How are you saving while you're in school? Do you work? What have you cut back on? What was the hardest thing for you to give up? And what do you look forward to when you graduate and get that first RN paycheck?

I know what you mean. My school is about 4 hours from where I live and have a job so I have to stay on campus. I have pretty much taken every loan, grant, and scholarship they have thrown at me (still does not cover 100% of my school bill, so there is nothing left over for books, supplies, gas, ect...)! I work during all my vacations (usually 40+ hours a week) so as to pay for my extra expenses. I am fortunate to have great parents and Grandparents who slip me some money or fill my gas tank or buy me a few groceries when I do get to see them. But it's still rough! I have had to cut back on a lot of my spending, no new scrubs for work (though I desperately need them!), no ice coffees (only as a treat), ect...

hang in there we will get through this! :)

I agree. I am out of pocket. Had to give my house back to the mortgage company and move in with someone else to get this done. And I just started.

I'm not attempting to save money while in nursing school, I'm all about surviving :) I'm in my last semester and I work FT, own my house, have multiple dogs... quite honestly I use my credit cards for many things. I use my tax refund to pay them down every year. I figure some day I'll make the money to pay them off :) For now, I'm just going to keep my head down and keep on trucking
