Thinking of rescheduling my exam

Published

What do you think guys? I'm taking my Nclex for the second time this coming third week of july. I'm thinking of rescheduling it and moving it on the last week of July. I feel that I'm not yet prepared. Although I already finished reading saunders the whole book and answering the cd that comes with it. I don't memorize things yet like the uncommon lab values, signs and symptoms of diseases, drugs, etc. I also attended a live review class. For those who passed the exam. What books did you use and what practice questions did you answer? I hope to pass this time.

I used Saunders, PDA, Kaplan, & lippincot alternate style Q&A book. Are you doing questions & rationales everyday?

I used ATI (it was required through my program) but also used Kaplan. Try to make sure you're not just doing questions but are also reading the rationales for every question, right or wrong. If you use Kaplan they have a 2 and 3 week study plan, which I liked a lot. Good luck!

Yes. But I'm worried about content. I'm getting exhausted this past few days. I really hope that I will pass this time.

I used NSCBN review but I did not finished the practice questions. The first time I took Nclex I enrolled at kaplan. Thanks for your suggestion.

I took my test on the 26th and I had only 75qustions, but I did not pass. I recommend KNOW your CONTENT for sure!

I really wouldn't focus on uncommon lab values. The test focuses on what a new first year nurse should know. The material is broad and basic. They aren't going to focus is on obscure lab values.

I used:

Kaplan Book

PharmPhlash Cards

ExamCRAM

LaCharity

NCSBN

Saunders NCLEX Questions Flash Cards

Lippincott NCLEX question Apps (iPhone)

I utilized each source in its entirety for 1 week (Kaplan, PharmPhlash, ExamCRAM, LaCharity), then utilized the other sources for strictly question review, and being prepared to endure 265 questions. I studied from March-May of last year, took NCLEX in June due to scheduling, and questions shut off at 75, but was prepared for anything! Passed the first time.

If you feel as though you need additional time to study, I say go for it, as long as your study time is within a two month period of studying. Don't forget to focus on the four subjects of the NCLEX that you need to know as a licensed nurse: Safe, Effective Care; Health Promotion; Psychological and Physiologic Integrity...understanding what the question is ASKING you in relation to the four subjects will help you choose the correct answer every time. Review ALL rationales from practice questions and exams. If you are struggling with a particular area, focus on those questions-the Saunders flash cards REALLY help me out on this. Sending positive vibes on your success on the NCLEX!:up::up::up::up:
