I believe that the school was absolutely wrong in how they handled the situation. Yes, you should have failed out of nursing school for failing 3 classes, but they should NOT have allowed you to continue taking classes. It is the school's responsibility to notify students when they are failing. Even if people here think that you should have been more on top of the situation (which yes, honestly you could have been more on top of things), the fact still remains that someone at the office did not do their job, and it hurt you financially. That's like getting approved for a credit card, spending money, then having the credit card company take away all the money they gave you, plus the items you purchased with that money, all the while still making you pay interest. It's wrong.

Again, you took one sentence and chose to be hurt by it, instead of seeing that ultimately I WAS trying to give you support and encouragement.

That is why there are such rules. If you can't understand school policy and follow it, it does not spell well for a nursing career for you.

You may assume what you want about me and how I act but you have no idea. There are no correct words to say without them being taken the way the reader takes them. I have taken responsibility for my actions. Flying under the radar was not the best thing. I do not make excuse for knowing or not knowing I had failed.

Yes you did try to be positive but it was a little too late. I READ every word of what you wrote and I even re-read every word everyone wrote. I chose to say what I said from everyone's posts not just yours.

I am a good person no matter what you want to believe. I am not making excuses for how my situation is. I own up to my wrong doings. I am paying the price. I messed up. I know it.

I also have to question the school's integrity here. Has anyone considered why the school accepted Financial Aid monies from a student who was ultimately going to be dropped from the program? Was this a State or Private Institution? Failing courses will place you on Financial Aid probation and requires extensive counseling before you are allowed to take further courses. You just can't "choose to register and pay for more classes hoping no one would ever know," at many programs. The OP bears much of the responsibility, no doubt. But this school should not have been able or should not have taken any further financial aid monies at this level. The school AND the OP should have had extensive interactive counseling.

27 years as a Nurse, I have failed many things. Please people, everyone here has made many mistakes in their lives. We are HUMAN. Do you know how many "holier than thou" attitudes I have come up against in my career? You have ALL made mistakes AND have tried to cover them also. I have seen it in action. It's human nature to make excuses for your guilty conscious. However, there is a time to admit and confess. The OP is doing so right now. Stop crucifying her and lets encourage her to become a better person (maybe nurse) for it.

Explorereb: Believe it or not, there are many people who actually own up to their mistakes and work to fix said mistakes, then make a plan to ensure those mistakes don't happen again.

Come on guys, don't be hard on her. She is sharing this post in hope to have some opinions about this. Well, I think at this point, your best option is to look for another school. I don't think it is wise to appeal anything at this point bc it would be useless. Try to look into other schools now and if you get in, make sure you stay on top of your grades from that moment on!
