only post here if you got rejected into a nursing program.........

so what did you do when you got the rejection letter? i just got mine yesterday and i took a long, depressing, cold shower........... man this really blows.

i got 5 rejection letters from my local community college.

i wanted to be an rn so so bad, that i was willing to even move cities so i could become an rn.

after the first rejection letter, i didn't get discouraged because i heard from other people that a lot of people get one rejection letter, then after that the second time you re apply for the program you will get accepted.

so i waited for that second letter.... i was expecting an acceptance because after all. i had a 3.3 gpa, with all my main courses completed.

but nope ... another rejection letter.

i told people at work, because i was working in the picu as a cna. i was told to apply to the neighboring county community college where i could put my name on a waiting list. but i still needed one more class... so i took the class, i applied to the school and got on their waiting list.

i reapplied again for the 3rd time... another rejection letter.

i then kept taking classes towards my aa in pre-nursing so in the future i am ready to get a bsn.

i reapplied again for the 4th time...... there we go again, another rejection letter.

i kept taking classes, i even got a scholarship.......

i decided to apply again. i didn't have to pay for it, only one time on the first applicaiton. i sent it back.

then that september, i applied to nova southeastern university in davie, fl, went to the interview, got in, and started jan 2005 $$$$$

i also got an acceptace letter from manatee community college in bradenton, fl $distance

and in april of 2005, i got an acceptace letter from broward community college in pembroke pines fl $just about right

that summer of 2005, i got my last rejection letter from my local community college

*sigh*

when i tell people my story, they tell me that they would of given up after the 2nd rejection letter. but not me. i wanted to be an rn:nurse: so so bad. not for the money... here in mia we do not get paid that much compared to other careers..... i wanted to do it because i absolutely loved working in a hospital, i love the patient care, i love meeting new people, the patient's are awesome. i love making the sick babies smile, i love chatting up with the teenagers, i love love love being in health care. that was my home. i loved the hospital where i worked as a tech, i loved going to a different place everyday (i was a float tech)........... and i want to move up in life, just like anyone else.

i had ambition to make myself better. and i knew in my heart that being an rn would satisfy my top maslow hierarchy of needs.

so that is why i stuck to it.

i had a baby during nursing program.... while most people would take time off... i kept going to school, i did quit my job to focus on school and the baby... but i got it back once i graduated... and became an rn last november.

so my suggestion to anyone who wants to be an rn...... is look within your heart and just go for it.

just go for it and never give up.

look at your other schools surrounding you. and even if it is far away just go and do your best.

if you want to do it, you will do it, you will be an rn,

i always pictured myself being an rn and now i am one.

so don't give up!!!:nurse:

I too have been rejected! I applied to 2 for last Fall, and 2 for this spring. I didn't get in to any of them. They were all for ASN. So, I am taking 18 hours this semester and 10 in the summer so I can apply for Fall 08 program for BSN. So, now I have sent in 5 appications...hoping that I get into one!!

If that is what you are set out to do, keep trying and you will get in.

My friend applied to ALL the community colleges here in FL and finally she was accepted to only one.

she graduated but has not passed boards yet (she got very sick)

but hey, she graduated, she is almost there.

so definitely keep keep trying!

 I've been rejected three times, and I'm about to give up:crying2:

I was rejected 3 times already twice at the same school. I will be applying to 3 different maybe 4 colleges this year. So far I have one app in. I pray that I get into one. It suxs the first time i got rejected and i was seriously sad. The second time I got rejected they put me on a wait and I would've gotten in if someone was dumb enough to drop out. LOL. That didn't happen of course so I am still waiting. Lets all keep each other motivated good luck to everyone.:redpinkhe

i was waitlisted four times here in NC, with the pre-reqs completed, 6 years experience as a medic and a 3.7 GPA. their rationale was that the people who get in have the same acceptance credentials, only they have already been waiting for 2 years. they told me my best bet was to become an LPN and only then would i be at the top of the waiting list.....and now that i am almost done with school, they are priming a paramedic to RN program.... but thats just my luck. i am hoping to make good their promises and get in the LPN-RN bridge program after i pass my boards this year.

I was rejected last semester for my first application to my local CC. They do not send a letter, but instead send an email. The email was supposed to come on a certain day, but it took 4 days, and by the time it came my nerves were shot. The school accepts on a point system, and the lowest point value to get in was 27 points and I had 22. I was told that the applicant pool was large, and the point value was high in contrast to the past semesters.

I applied this semester just a week ago, and was very excited with my 34 points as I felt I has a very good chance of getting in with that point value. They just posted a notice a couple of days ago that their sister program at another CC was having financial/teacher issues, and would not be having a fall 08 class. Instead they are adding that applicant pool to the one I just applied to (doubling it) while at the same time reducing the amount of spots from 40 to 30.

I feel like a pole vaulter almost at my mark and they double my bar height while at the same time taking a 4th of my pole. I know this is what I am supposed to do, but I can't figure out why its this difficult. I am a mom of three, and really can't afford to wait another semester. I have taken everything I need, and I can't lay off a semester without going into loan repayment. I even made an A on the entrance exam. I am keeping my fingers crossed, but if I don't get in this time I might be done.

I did not get rejected as much as the others because I only applied to one school the first time. :lol2: In any case I was rejected in '06 with a 4.0 for the Fall start and then was re-evaluated at the end of the summer. I recall feeling like a total failure and thinking I was never going to be admitted. Those feelings lasted a day. I got back on the horse the very next day and continued to progress.

Like the others I kept taking classes and doing well to increase my chances. I was accepted for the Spring of '07. I am in third semester (it is brutal) and doing fine.

My advice to all who are rejected is to keep moving forward. While you wait for acceptance continue taking classes. If you have to re-take classes then do so. If you are finished with all of your co-reqs, then start taking classes for your next degree (for me it is a BSN). GL! :nurse:
