The election 2024 Thread

I traditionally have a thread heading to the election, here we go.

Get out the popcorn for this one.

Quote

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to formally announce next week he is running for president in 2024, NBC News reported Thursday, citing two sources familiar with the matter.

The governor's official entry into the Republican primary field will put him head-to-head with former President Donald Trump, the party's current frontrunner for the nomination. Trump has already spent months treating DeSantis as his primary campaign rival, thrashing him with torrents of criticism over his gubernatorial record, his political skills and his personality.

He broke with tradition and wasn't at the convention for McCain or Romney in 2008 or  2012.  He apparently wants to stay out of the political limelight.  Obviously he's not supporting Trump but apparently he's living up to a pledge not to criticize other Presidents.

I think he attended Trump inauguration and said after that the speech was some "weird ****". Since then Bush has appeared with the Clinton and Obama for public service ads but refuses to interact with Trump.

Weird. Wasn't Bush "totally Hitler"  too in 2001? A evil war mongering dictator?  Strange he wouldn't support his fellow nazis..... ?

Right.  That is expected.  It's much easier to accept and repeat the right wing rhetoric about Biden's cognition if one just ignores all of the contradictory evidence.

Correct, the Obama's will show their support tonight.  Harris has the distinct benefit of the public support of all 3 living former democratic presidents.  Bush doesn't support Trump and scores of Trump's previous administration and cabinet are warning people that Trump is uniquely unfit for office.

What's the "contradictory evidence"? Didn't they say the same about Bush?

This kind of stuff has happened before, so we have a law which prohibits it called The Logan Act

Trump seems to have a special relationship with our legal and judicial system, so one shouldn't expect any inquiry or consequences should laws have been broken.

Are you for real? Are you suggesting our legal and judicial system is bias and/or favors Trump? ?

And apparently there's nothing good he could say about Trump in the campaign seasons...

Well they made the same accusations about him didn't they? And apparently saying anything non derogatory about Trump gets you put in the racist nazi club. So of he did have something nice to say he most likely wouldn't.

Probably enjoying not being called terrible names.

None of the right wing extremists can be expected to negotiate in good faith.  A feature of right wing extremist ideology is dishonesty.

And no one should be surprised that terrorist Hamas refuses to negotiate....

LOL

And it's common knowledge that a preplanned speech with a teleprompter uses a different part of the brain than a non scripted speech or debate.

However, some will claim there was no gaffs during this speech and he was  perfect. They have done it up to last month so what's one more night? It was late tho? Good thing there were many women there that had electric power to keep the lights on.

Who will claim that there were no gaffes and he was perfect?  Are you talking about some social media bot that gets low into Americans all agitated?

Given that Trump is the candidate who has made ridiculous claims about his perfect health or his perfect phone calls or his perfect intellect, I'll just dismiss that as fantastical thinking trying to be a projection.  Hyperbole and fabricated concerns are the backbone of Trump's reelection strategy with a nice side serving of she can't possibly be black or qualified and  she must be DEI or elevated on sexual favors.

Team Trump seems awfully salty about the enthusiastic convention that is launching Harris's campaign in ways that the GOP convention couldn't launch Trump's.

Correct.  Right wing extremists don't negotiate in good faith.  They are liars, the lot and all of the leaders involved in that violence are right wing extremists... including the American republican reportedly attempting to meddle.

Is that part of the delusion?  I bet you could search through the relevant threads hoping to find that reference, but you won't.  The typical Trumpian tactic is just to claim nonsense as if it's true and then ignore all evidence that it's nonsense and repeat the same messaging later as if none of us can remember that it's nonsense.

I'm for real.  No the system doesn't favor Trump, it favors wealthy people who can afford to delay justice and buy judges and justices.  A judge just dismissed a case against Trump.  She doesn't even mind that Trump lies about what she did.  That's how little integrity she has.  The Supremes abused precedent to cause that.

I don't expect you to know about any of that.

The Biden retirement was brilliant.  It still has Trump and Trump supporters talking about it and looking back rather than looking to the future.

That's one of the most entertaining spin jobs I've heard in quite sometime.  Nice job!

Do you have facts and evidence to support that Trump "bought" the judge who dismissed the case ? Do you have any evidence of her incompetence?  Or is it like so much in these threads that ypur opinion reins superior because it's your opinion? Perhaps you have some unconscious misogynistic bias because the judge is a woman?

It's interesting that you try to invoke distrust in our justice system and media. Isn't that the act of a far right fascist?  A method from Hitlers play book? As you have so often accused Republicans of?

Any justice that doesn't go the way you want is incomplete and corrupt.  Got it.

It seems many have grandiose narcissism traits in "the era of Trump".
