8th grade spinal screenings

This is the first year I'll have to perform 8th grade spinal screenings. Can any of you junior high nurses give me any tips about how to make it easier? Do you do them in the gym or clinic? Do you make the student remove his/her top? Do you send notices home before you do them? How many do you screen at a time? Thanks in advance?

I always screen one at a time in the privacy of my office no matter what grade level I do.

I send home a letter to parents; and ask student to wear a tank top under their clothing the day of the screening (I put that reminder in our daily announcements the day before). I ask each student to undress on the top down to the tank top. Most of the 8th grade boys I've screened don't wear a tank top, but also don't mind taking their shirt/undershirt off. I bring in extra tanks tops (boys and gals) for those that forget and give them the option to change.

Some schools ask the kids to wear swim suits under their clothes.
