Textbook questions

I am beginning my journey of nursing concepts exams through Excelsior. I purchased the TCN study guides and the recommended Fundamentals of Nursing and Pediatrics books. I was wondering if any of you could give me some insight to whether or not it is necessary to purchase ALL of the books recommended in the content guide. I am so nervous and want to have everything I need to do well, but I don't want to over buy either....tight budget and all.....any advice on other helpful materials is appreciated as well. Thanks in advance.

BVuy the med/surg, maternal/child and pharm. But an edition lower off of www.half.com.

I might be the odd one out but I only bought the med surg book and a really old edition of the psych book. I had an excellent maternity book from my LPN schooling that I used for that test. I also had an up to date pharm text that I used as well. Aside from that, I was able to google information (I do better at making my own outline to study from with dieases and how things work). I also used yahoo groups. And last but not least, I used my local library which had the fundamentals and pediatric texts. If they didn't have those, I'm not sure what I would have done. I also made sure to spend on the practice tests from EC- that was worth it.

Thanks Changeofpace! I hadn't considered the local library! I'm also a big Googler as well. I also have my old LPN textbooks, but wasn't sure if they would suffice. I have a big resource library at the hospital where I work too. I'm kinda new around here....really love the fact that you guys are so supportive of one another during their journeys. I will definately be joining in the fun more often! :yeah:
