Hello All,
I'm currently a LVN looking to apply for Excelsior to finish my RN. However, I noticed during the paperwork process that their is a bill up for discussion again at the legislature in Texas regarding Excelsior. I've contacted the committee but so far have not had much luck on any further information. Just wondering if anyone else knows when Texas may make a decision on this. I'm waiting to apply until it happens...would hate to spend money and then not be able to sit to test! Thanks in advance for any information/advice.

This thread might provide some information, particularly the last post: https://allnurses.com/excelsior-college-online/excelsior-in-texas-1049171.html
Thank you! I've tried going to sunset commissions website. I don't hardly understand all the mumbo jumbo legal stuff. It sounds like it won't be anything to worry about, but since I'm just starting still makes me a little nervous. Appreciate it!

Just know that if you EVER thought about California- you cannot be an RN there with an Excelsior degree.
Nope, Nope...Texas is Home

This is a constant fear of mine with Excelsior. With all of the hoops to jump through, possibly needing to sit for exam in one state, hoping to get endorsement in another, where does it end!? Every day that goes by, each test that I take, I'm worried I'll be the next state on the chopping block. Keep everyone posted if you hear any decisions coming down the line. Good luck!

This is where I am at currently. I am praying that nothing of the sort occurs in the time it takes for me to get a test date and actually take the exam.

I'm wording the question understandingly...

Texas granted Excelsior status as long as they continue to maintain average national pass rates for NCLEX. They made the decision back in the summer. It was in the BON newsletter that you should be getting every quarter.
