Testing in less than 48 hours..

Any last minute advice? After thousands of questions, I plan on just reviewing drugs, lab values, and heart rhythms today. Any advice? The ECG/treatments tend to choke me up. Is there a trick or something that helped you remember?

Any advice about test day? What to wear and bring (besides the ATT and picture ID)

Any words of wisdom and advice would help. I don't think I have ever been so nervous for anything in my entire life :p

Vtach-->slow it down (lidocaine)

SVT--->Adenosine

Asystole--->Atropine

When you check in for your exam just bring your ID and ATT (I didn't my ATT but bring it just in case). Make sure your ID has a signature on it...if it doesn't then u can bring in a credit card with a signature on the back along with your picture ID. Don't wear big earrings or a necklace because they will tell you to take it off and put it in the locker...also nothing in your pockets.

Go over your isolation precautions and know which are droplet/airborne/contact. There's mnemonics for these: airborne--> My (measles) Chicken (chicken pox/varicella) Hz (herpes zoster/shingles) TB (tuberculosis)

Droplet-->SSSPPPIDERMMMAn Contact---->MRS. WEE Skin Infections-->VCHIPS

Rest the day before your exam...relax..get a massage...take a bubble bath...watch a movie. You need to rest your brain:) Day of the exam you should eat a healthy breakfast enough to last about 6 hours. Take a deep breath and relax yourself! this is what I did...my nerves were just going haywire so before I clicked the button that would bring me to my first question I took about 5 deep breaths..in through the nose out through the mouth...and then I was relaxed for the whole test..stopped at 75 and got the good pop up. If you start to get anxious and nervous again then do another set of deep breathing exercises and THINK POSITIVE! always say to your self "I can do this". Read every question and choices carefully! And lastly, pray! GOOD LUCK!! :)

THANK YOU! Posts like this help so much and I really appreciate you taking the time to encourage me. I will review all of the tips you suggested. I test at 8:00 AM so I will try to sleep as early as possible on that day, wake up early and get in a good and healthy breakfast. Thank you!

I bet it's a great feeling to pass! Congratulations to you! I am really happy for you!

Now is relax and take care of yourself time! You have the knowledge, now it's time to just believe in yourself!

For test day, just remember that the rules are super strict. My whole mantra was "keep it simple." I left everything in my car except for my car keys and my ID. I dressed in non-bulky, comfy clothes (yoga pants, fitted t-shirt and a light sweatshirt).

Plan something fun/relaxing the day of the test, too. Whether it's lunch with friends or a special dinner, just try to think of things to keep your mind off the test because if you're like most of us, you'll want to obsess over it. But once it's over, it's over, and your time is better spent trying to blow off some stream and enjoy a test-free, school-free life rather than worry while waiting for results!

Best of luck! You've got this!

I did not study 3 days before my nclex. Went out w/boyfriend, did my hair, watch a movie, hung out with friends (who I haven't seen for yrs), ate a lot of fish (which I really hate) teacher said it helps you remember....worked because I passed. Bascially I RELAXED and it felt good not to study............

Thank you! I can't wait until it's over. Hopefully I will see the good pop up. I have a similar outfit in mind also. Yoga pants and a T shirt. I was wondering about the sweater. I am ALWAYS cold. Is a hoodie appropriate or are they strict about hoods and pockets?

I wore a comfortable outfit. I had ugg boots, yoga pants/leggings, and undershirt and a sweater.

I asked for ear plugs which helped a lot because at first when I sat at my cubicle I could hear the person next to me freaking out and reading their answers out loud. good luck, you can do this! praying for you :)

Me too! I test in less than 48hrs. Getting veryyyyyyyyy anxious. Thanks for the encouragements! We will make it rnaria!

Head phones will definitely be a must for me as even a little bit of noise can be distracting.

Good luck to you as well, teecee! What time is your exam?

8am! What about you?

Same! I'm not used to waking up at 5 or 6 AM and sleeping early has become virtually impossible, lol!

Stay calm & relax. Remember go into the examination from a critical thinking and safety perspective & keep this in mind for every question. Read the question 2 - 3 times and make sure you understand what the question is asking. If an answer jumps out immediately, re-read that question, because that option could be the distractor. Lastly, please do not think about anything else b4 or during that exam (such as I need to pass this to get a new job, or to benefit my child or to help my family), b/c this will create undue pressure and anxiety. Now relax and GO GET YOUR LICENSE.
