Test out of certain classes?

You could look into CLEP tests... a lot of colleges accept them, and they have them in a lot of subjects, but I don't think they have one for A&P or Medical Terminology classes.

I checked into this myself, and they don't offer a CLEP test for A&P. The only class that I could CLEP for my program is Human Growth and Development. I did CLEP my English Comp 1 and 2 though a few years ago, it was great to avoid having to take the two classes.

Just keep in mind that the CLEP will probably not be accepted at another college or university...

I have NEVER had that problem. Check into it, but every university/community college I have attended or looked into has accepted it without a problem. I also have had friends that have done this as well and they have not had a problem getting it transferred into a school. You do need to get a certain score on it in order for it to be accepted and it is always good to check with the school first though.

At the schools I applied to everyone has to take a nursing entrance exam. One school it is the NET and the other school makes us take the NLN. You should call the school and ask what their requirement is as they all vary.

Depending on how long ago you took that Chem, and had you taken the A&P course, they could have accepted them instead of you taking them in college before entering the Nursing Program.

I know that quite a few colleges here want your Sciences taking between 4-5 years (some less) before entering school. Thats the absolute longest before they disregard those classes and make you take them in college.

I scr*wed myself. I took quite a few of the Sciences (A&P I and II, Chemistry, Psych, Socialogy, Human G&D) years ago..not one is "useable" in regards to the pre-reqs for Nursing!! GRRRR!!!

Your best bet would be to set up appointments with the advisors at the school's you are interested in so they can point you in the right direction. I know CLEP is fine at my school but not at others and at my school when you CLEP a subject you still have to pay for the credits, so it's like paying for the class all over again. Also my school uses the NLN not the NET and others the TEAS so it's probably best to ask the school your interested in what to do. Good Luck!

CLEP is College Level Examination Program. IB at my highschool was International Baccalaureate program which isn't CLEP'ing but if you took AP & IB classes or any classes that were equivalent to college level classes you can "CLEP" them to see if you can get the credit without taking the class. I took some classes at private college one year and wanted to "CLEP" some of the classes to get an extra degree at my CC but then they explained I would have to pay for the credits and I said forget it. LOL. Hope that makes sense

That is interesting that you still have to pay for the credits even though you took the CLEP test, I haven't run into that. The schools I am applying to doesn't do that, I plan to test out of human growth and development. Just shows that you really have to look into everything when you decide to do something like this. It is accepted at over 2900 schools according the web site, and some great schools from where I grew up. It is a widely accepted test, but there are going to be some schools that may not accept it. I just won't go there :)
