Tele interview

Published

Hey everyone, I have an interview on a telemetry unit next week. Anyone have any tips, or know what questions they might ask me? I had no technical questions in my last interview (just behavioral, for OR), but I am sure there will be some this time. Obviously I am anticipating cardiac questions, but I am a new grad (although with cardiac experience)-so I just want to know if anyone could give me any specific ones they think might be asked/they were asked. Any help would be much appreciated. Already getting nervous! Thanks!:)

When I went for my ICU interview they didn't ask me anything cardiac related, or ICU related. They did ask me why I wanted to work in the unit. Also, I was asked general questions probably very similar to the ones you had in your first interview. I was given a couple situational questions, priority questions which you really can't study for, always remember to involve your team members when you have two situations that need immediate intervention. Also I was asked if you have finished everything for the day what would you do? My answer was I would help out my team members. Also questions like tell me about a conflict you've had, how did you handle it ext. And tell me about a time when you saw someone make an error, what would you do. Good luck, sorry my response is a little delayed, hope it makes it to you before the date. And also, remember to let your personality shine, smile, breath and you will do great.

They'll probably ask you common medications you may give like calcium channel blockers, beta blockers and what you would do in situations of a code. I would look over the ACLS algorithm.

I accepted a job on a surgical tele floor, and here are some of the questions I was asked:

getting ready for morning med pass, nurse aid takes bp, it is 90/50, you have lasix, an atb, a beta blocker, a vitamin. what would you do? I told her I would go in there and retake the bp and if it's still low I would hold the lasix and the beta blocker.

then she gave me this situation. same scenario... the Dr. gets called for the low bp. he orders NS. NS gets done running. check bp after, and it's still real low. what do you do next? and I told her I would call the Dr. and get new orders. I also was asked what labs I would check before administering the above drugs: I/O, H/H, CBC

I was asked 5 year goals. why I want to work there. she gave me a scenario where i walked in on my co-workers talking about me, but all I heard was them mentioning my name. what would I do?

that's all I can remember. I hope that helped :)

For my tele interview, I was asked zero cardiac questions.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate all the tips and info! I prepared for all possibilities of questions, but was basically asked none of them...and was offered the job this past Monday!!!!! :D Now I just have to hope I get my letter of eligibility for my NCLEX in time for me to schedule and take it, because I start 8/1-eeep! I am starting to panic. If anyone has any advice about this (as in how long it takes to schedule, how long letters take after grad, or how long delays are with previously rejected fingerprints, etc.) PLEASE let me know!
