Can you tell us where this is, so that we do NOT go there as patients. Yes, 7:1 is extremely unsafe, hopefully your hospital has a nursing union in place. If not, at least, the nurses should have some form of Nurse Professional Committee where these concerns can be brought forward and discussed openly. Also, if your hospital is considered "Magnet" then complaints can be registered.

i work on a tele floor and i have the same problem. cant wait for my contract to be over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have heard nightmare stories from nurses that I worked with having 8 on a tele floor for day shift. Very high turnover and frustration level.

I work agency and also work tele, (for the past 6 years)-I am currently working on an assignment where I was given 7 tele patients and they tried to give me an 8th. Yes, there is a tele tech BUT I look at a tele unit as an unpredictable fire- at any given moment you can have 1 and often times more go bad at the same time. that's why they are put on tele- to monitor and see what they are going to do. I have to wonder if nursing administration sees it this way or if they have ever worked tele- very difficult and VERY fast-paced
