Took the test this morning and found the science section extremely hard!!! There were a lot of earth science questions and physics and i feel the study guide didnt really cover those areas. I also ran out of time for the math section. Im not really sure how i did but im sure the science section will bring my score down... oh well, now i have to wait an entire week for my score... TORTURE!!!

Yeah, the ATI study guide really does little to prepare you for the science. The Kaplan version is much more in depth, but even then I still felt like that part of the exam covers so a wide range of "science" that it's pretty much you know the material, or you don't. At least the questions I got were like that. That stinks that you have to wait for your score. I took the computer version and you get your results right away.

yeah i didnt even know Kaplan made a review book for this test until it was too late. There's so much that could be on the science section, general science, earth science, life science, physics, chemistry, and only 30 questions! It makes it really hard to study for that section because there is a lot of information to cover. My advice is to just start reviewing a couple months before a little at a time. (wish i followed some of my own advice!!)

Are calculators allowed in the TEAS?

No, but I was given scratch paper to write on

I just took my teat today. I didn't do as well as you guys, but I scored a 78% which is passing. My school requires you to make at least a 74.4%. However, I only had 2 weeks to study for the exam, which was a lot of material. I didn't get the kaplan study guide, but did have the ATI. The science was the toughest for me, because I sisn't have much time to cover the material. I know I would have done a lot better if I had more time to study.

All that matters is that you got a good enough grade to get in! Congrats!

Does anyone know of a place here in Houston/Spring TX that i can take the TEAS?

your welcome =)

hey thanks! yea I've been studying the manual like crazy and I'm just about done with it. I'm also doing some free practice questions online. I hope that it's enough.

Ur welcome! how did you do?

Thanks to everyone for all the info; this site is so cool. I just finally asked my school today, applying for ADN in Spring, what we have for entrance/exit, and the advisor told me ATI, which I'm guessing is the TEAS (she was unsure), is our entrance test and it appears the "end of program" is the exit exam--top secret name apparently, but somebody already gave me a tip on that; ATI apparently gives several types of tests, so that test may be ATI's too. Anyhow, I'm taking college algebra and microbiology in Spring (take that TEAS after Spring). I'll have A&P I and II, stats behind me after this Fall; so that being said, will I still need to brush up on the science/chemistry or will I get what I need from those classes I take in Spring (my teachers used notes, but I'm a dork and actually read the chapters, so the proton/neutron thing rang some bells--not the periodic table, though). I am scared to death about math; I looked at the testprepreview and know I will have problems--I got 100% on my intermediate algebra final, but that in no way is going to help me with these word problems!! I think I'll get one or both of the study guides for math and/or science (it'll make me feel like I did all I could do I guess), but I am curious that after taking my classes above in Fall and Spring, will the TEAS be a little easier because those classes will have some of what is needed? I am 36 and quit school in 10th grade, so all this algebra is first-time stuff for me; I had to take MAT0024 and int alg. I have a great GPA in all prereq's; it appears I just didn't like any of it when I was 15. Do y'all still recommend the study guides (ATI and Kaplan is what I planned on)?

OK now after reading every post on this 16 page thread I have a couple questions. So does each section have a different amount of time? So if you are allotted 4 hours for the test and 1 hour for each section it would not be possible to spend 90 min on Math and 30 minutes on English?

Now an off topic question: People mention Ivy Tech AT LEAST a dozen times if not more and the original poster mentions it as well. How is it that after all these posts and after going to their web site I have absolutely no inclination where Ivy Tech is. I know from their web site that it is a group of 23 community colleges but even in the "About Ivy Tech" section on their web site they fail to mention which state hosts these 23 college. When you click on "campuses" it lists a bunch of cities and from the list they appear to be cites that span at least 10 states but the colleges are supposedly in one state. For some reason this irritates the hell out of me and I have not idea why I am wasting time on non sense right now.

Just be happy, people applying to Ivy Tech schools, that you don't live in California and are competing with 1500 other people for one of 80 slots (SFSU). Out of the 23 state schools in CA* the easiest ones have only 300 applicants for 40-50 slots. Don't even think of applying if your overall GPA is under 3.7 and for many schools don't think of applying if you don't have a overall GPA of 4.0 and not just for the pre-reqs.

OK I am a little bitter and burnt out. The more research I do the more I realize I am going to have to go out of state. I don't think I have a chance of getting in anywhere unless I shell out 50,000 USD a year for the private schools or apply to the community colleges and get added into their lottery system and then I will still have to do the BSN when I am done. Plus I know people that have applied several times to the community college lottery system and gave up after a few years. It happens in the state schools too. My cousin was going to Sacramento State and after she finished her pre-reqs and lower division with a 3.9 she applied 3 times to the nursing dept at Sac State and gave up after the third try.

OH and to you Ivy Tech people the LVN/LPN is extremely rare in CA. There are a handful of private schools that do it for 24,000 USD and up.

OK sorry for the rant. Going to bed now.

110 community colleges in 72 districts

23 California State Universities

10 University of California
